raptop: Your options: untitled goose game, untilited cassowary game. My choice: untilited cassowary game
<egg|matrix|egg>
(ANBOscope is still the Vixen kitty)
<egg|matrix|egg>
also, what sensor?
<SnoopJ>
aaaAAAAAAAA
<iximeow>
same imx455, i ended up in possession of an fli 16083 that is now on NAFO I
<iximeow>
i'm working out a few more issues before doing anything very exciting with the sensor, i'd rather like to use a medium format sensor but that comes with Problems
<iximeow>
there's enough image circle i could get away with an imx411 even, but i legitimately do not know how i'd put filters in front of that
<egg|matrix|egg>
I could probably go with a wider frame in the ANBOscope too (and I probably should, since I am probably limited by the sky rather than the diametre of my scope)
<iximeow>
an interested party has suggested they might be willing to sponsor an instrument selector and spectroscope too
<iximeow>
wide frame good
<raptop>
vague GMU update: it looks like there might finally be enough data processing for us to be observation time limited
<raptop>
iximeow: yay, spectroscopy!
<WeylandsWings>
iximeow: you have a CDK24?
<iximeow>
WeylandsWings: yep
<WeylandsWings>
NICE
<iximeow>
it is very nice
<iximeow>
my biggest issue right now is that the mount is not... great, and it's still a bit misaligned, and i still haven't quite fixed collimation after the shipping incident
<iximeow>
but i haven't had the time to go and actually do those things
<WeylandsWings>
what mount do you have for it
<iximeow>
it's on an ascension 200
<iximeow>
i think the biggest issue is that its former owner tried to adjust the encoder head spacing, so it loses track sometimes and PWI does not recover from that without resetting the mount
<WeylandsWings>
wait you have a PlaneWave CDK?
<iximeow>
yeah?
<WeylandsWings>
doubly nice,
<iximeow>
oh, right, yeah,
<WeylandsWings>
when i was in school we were looking at those for a project
<WeylandsWings>
sadly we didnt get fallout funds that year to buy it
<WeylandsWings>
(plus OH isnt great for observing anyway)
<iximeow>
indeed
<iximeow>
rural VA isn't great either, i'm kind of surprised that it was where it was
<iximeow>
"seeing doesn't ever get better than 3 arcsec here" said the person i bought it from, while i withered
<iximeow>
(i saw 0.8" this week)
<raptop>
Did you install it next to the WIYN or something? o_O
<iximeow>
nah it's at SRO
<iximeow>
WeylandsWings: what was the project?
<WeylandsWings>
iximeow: daylight obs of sats
<iximeow>
oo
<WeylandsWings>
it was a proposed Doctorate project of a person i was helping out
<WeylandsWings>
so we were looking at the PlaneWave IRDK14
<WeylandsWings>
we also discussed sending the Meade 16 we had out for some modifcations
<WeylandsWings>
but getting a IR transparent corrector plane would have been a pain
