<Wrecker> Yo, is R-P0 CKAN install working currently? I get an error when trying to select the earth texture after the first click
<Bornholio> developmental branch works fine with a mostly CKAN'd RO branch and 1.3.1

<BadRocketsCo> Hmm
<BadRocketsCo> Oh, nvm. I just realised why a thing didn't work...
<BadRocketsCo> Ugh...how am I going to get a succesful orbiting probe to jupiter without completely overengineering my rocket
<BadRocketsCo> And I am rubbish at gravity assists
<BadRocketsCo> Welp, I guess I just have to build a bigger rocket
<Bornholio> lol
<Bornholio> plan a absolute minimum capture then do your swingby planning from that since you can massively reduce dV cost of inclination changes at AP then

<Starwaster> bornholio I'll check it out

<Starwaster> bornholio I hadn't seen that specific document on ISRU / Mars. It doesn't tell me much that I didn't already know EXCEPT how much heat is produced.... the current RISRU Sabatier reactors don't produce heat and I wasn't sure how much they should put out so that should help me come up with a decent value
<Bornholio> good deal
<Starwaster> something particularly unrealistic about our implementation is the notion that you're going to be able to harvest enough material with drills... that other document kind of reinforces that a bit. You'd need mobile harvesters tearing up the landscape, scraping at least a few inches thick on each pass and feeding it into the processor through hoppers
<Starwaster> but I think for playability it has to be this way
<Bornholio> unless you can have some engine for local depletion you can't enforce that
<Starwaster> bornholio, page 40 gives a mining depth of 5m and several examples as to square mileage...
<Bornholio> i know its massive too
<Starwaster> and tons/year... is that soil processed or O2 produced?
<Bornholio> think 02 production
<Starwaster> yeah it is
<Starwaster> I'll have to use those figures and see how that compares to what's in the mod already
<Starwaster> even if we're stuck witht he notion of sticking drills in the ground
<Starwaster> I guess just force putting enough drills on there to simulate a miner roving around scraping up the landscape
<Starwaster> uhm does the stock resource harvester support using up a given area's resources?
<Bornholio> nope
<Starwaster> I never much used it before now so I have no idea
<Starwaster> so you can't exhaust a given region's resources? that sux
<Bornholio> only used resource is asteriod
<Bornholio> maybe you could spawn a local potatoriod and use that. seems annoying though
Senshi has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
<Bornholio> starwaster do you think is worth having a catalyst resource being consumed?
<Bornholio> also reading words "incipient wetness impregnation" .smirk
<Starwaster> Bornholio catalyst consumption: maybe, undecided
<Starwaster> I've thought about it before and I'm just not sure it's worth it. It could always be done as an extra-realistic patch
<Starwaster> optional patch
