<Rohaq> evening all
<Rohaq> I just updated CKAN, and I keep getting unhandled exception errors when trying to access the settings
<Rohaq> tried renaming the CKAN directory in KSP to start it afresh, but the error persists :\
<Rohaq> full output of the error here: https://pastebin.com/xHdVbcxg
<Rohaq> any ideas?
<Rohaq> I couldn't find much in the Wiki :\
<Rohaq> Ah, I think I got it
<Rohaq> for some reason the Cache area in the settings was displaying 'There are currently N cached files using B in total' after the error
<Rohaq> hitting Clear cache reset that, and the error no longer appears
<Rohaq> I'm guessing it hadn't actually created a cache yet, and so it was trying to determine how many files and their size from what would essentially be null

<Rohaq> bah, another NullReferenceException when downloading :\

<kubi> hi
<kubi> is it something with the servers' certificate or the debian update messed up something with CKAN?

<politas> Hi kubi, the latest version of CKAN requires Mono 5.0 or higher due to a change GitHub made. You'll need to get Mono from the Mono project.
<kubi> hmm
<politas> GitHub broke the previous version of the client.
<kubi> I see
<kubi> I still have mono 4.6
<politas> Sorry about that. Debian's policies on package versions sometimes causes problems like this.
<kubi> yes
<kubi> just wondering if it is possible to fix with some simple certificate update
<kubi> trying to avoid to install mono by hand
<kubi> it is still 4.6 in unstable
<politas> Unfortunately not. We needed to change how we were handling TLS handshakes, and the only versions of Mono that support the new TLS 1.2 are 5.0 and higher.
<kubi> ehh
<kubi> 10 years old protocol version :)
<politas> Mono is unfortunately always a little behind .Net, and with Debian lagging on the version support, things that work fine on .Net from 5 years ago don't work on the Debian of today.
<politas> Mono is one package that Debian really needs to make an exception on, so that users don't get stuck with unsupported software.
<kubi> I'll try the mono repository
<kubi> maybe it brings version 5+
<kubi> yep
<kubi> 5.8

<ckanbot> [CKAN] HebaruSan commented on issue #2307: So what's the key part of the fix? I think we already had the right path to mono in my previous ZIP since it wasn't launching a browser anymore, so I assume it's the APP_PATH logic? Why wouldn't a straight `dirname` cover that without running `pwd` in a subcommand? https://git.io/vArl4
<ckanbot> [CKAN] cherrydev commented on issue #2307: I THINK the key part of the fix (it was for me) is that mono was not in our path without reading it from `/etc/paths.d/mono-commands`. I don't know if the APP_PATH thing makes any difference. I changed it because I couldn't understand how the old code works, the new version seems to be a pretty standard bash idiom compared to the old one, and it doesn't require you to tack the relative path of the script from

<ckanbot> [CKAN] HebaruSan commented on issue #2307: OK, here's a hybrid of my previous ZIP script and @cherrydev's script above. I have added the `/etc/paths.d` block and the `"$(cd "$(dirname "$0")" && pwd)"` thing, but also kept the `osxmessage` error popups and added some environment variables that "macpack" uses for WinForms.... https://git.io/vAr4k
<ckanbot> [CKAN] cherrydev commented on issue #2307: I'm not 100% sure why the osxmessage isn't working when it fails. It's possible that when attempting to execute an invalid path the wrapper script itself is erroring out and therefore not getting to the osxmessage? https://git.io/vAr4D
