<raptop> okay, family member is *probably* better
<iximeow> whitequark: i already have the cursed usb thing. unfortunately it appears to do something so horribly that a vendor's sdk fails to download images from a usb 3.0 camera on the other end. it works fine for the *other* usb 3.0 camera. i have no idea what they did differently between the two. either way it introduces a twelve+ second download time in addition to what should be two seconds, and the
<iximeow> previous owner did not ... notice
<iximeow> this wouldn't matter for primary imaging, but it means the guide camera guided with twelve second old data
<iximeow> when you guide once every two seconds..... this is suboptimal
<whitequark> oh

<egg|laptop|egg> iximeow: try getting a second observation and then you will have discovered it I guess https://twitter.com/iximeow/status/1340956248229855232
<iximeow> i'm mostly confused because v'yus seems almost right if it weren't off by a half degree
<iximeow> nasa's orbit is determined from a month-old observation though so maybe?
<iximeow> !8 did the asteroid grow legs
<galois> iximeow: yes
<UmbralRaptop> !8 Did the asteroid grow a tail?
<galois> UmbralRaptop: yes
<UmbralRaptop> Something something comets are like cats
<iximeow> well. either way i have ~30 additional minutes of ufo footage
<UmbralRaptop> heh

<WeylandsWings> https://twitter.com/iximeow/status/1340956248229855232 could it be a sat that is chromatically smeraed because long exposure and filters?
<WeylandsWings> given your exposure times for getting nebulosity i would assume it would have to be High alt sat (geo or the like) or it is an asteroid
<WeylandsWings> if you have good times for filter changes you could probably get a fald decent search set of RA/Decs
<WeylandsWings> s/fald/half
<galois> WeylandsWings meant to say: if you have good times for filter changes you could probably get a half decent search set of RA/Decs
