Huh, looks like KCMO approvied the minimum wage increase ($7.70 to $10/hr) by ~2 to 1 margin.
<UmbralRaptor>
But... the Missouri legislature sorta pre-empted it, so no effect unless there's a lawsuit.

So Korea is supposedly starting a new practice in job applications where they obfuscate the sex of the person applying.
<TheKosmonaut>
It doesn’t say how far really, they’re calling it a “blind” application. Iirc they started that in Australia for sex-discrimination prevention(?) and it kind of backfired.
<TheKosmonaut>
In the sense that more men were hired on a meritocracy than the women were. But in Korea’s case it’s probably also a way to prevent companies from only hiring people they find attractive.
<TheKosmonaut>
I wonder how that’ll work out
<Iskierka>
sounds like australia may have done it a weird way. orchestras started doing that for auditions (player is behind a curtain) and did improve their ratio
<Iskierka>
though notably there's more than just name or such, if cover letter is included in australian system it might've just completely failed to hide it
<Pinkbeast>
It's trickier than it looks - single-sex schools, that kind of thing

I've heard of some companies having secretaries or such go through CVs to remove any potentially identifying information, which is probably fairly reliable. But that can't exactly be implemented on a national level
<Iskierka>
and even beyond single-sex schools, private schools people are probably more likely to pay for boys to go through than girls. Scholarships may be more likely also
