<plutokiller> Final night (of 7!) at the @SubaruTelescope . Once again a spectacular looking one. I haven't had 7 nights of good… https://t.co/6d0tELs6RO

also how will it distinguish itself from just being a big KBO? and isnt one criteria for a planet to clear its orbit?

Planet 9 somewhat does/did. Hence the argument for it based on KBO orbits.

It would be amusing/annoying to find another Pluto, though.

CS question: why was I taught about recursion?

(As best I'm aware, it's always slower and uses more memory than normal loops?)

YouTube - Sackler Astronomy Lecture: The Search for Planet Nine
<SnoopJeDi>
the tl;dr on "maybe there *is* a Planet Nine is that we sort Solar System Stuff by lumping behavior/properties together, and there are some objects that don't fit in their bins. Pluto was an excellent example, and there might be a thing (a planet?) out there causing the disruptions his team are interested in.
<SnoopJeDi>
the upshot being that a planet stirring the configuration-space pot is a simpler explanation than "we have yet another bin." They've had a really rough year in terms of getting telescope time AIUI, but hopefully we'll hear soon.
