UmbralRaptor changed the topic of #principia to: READ THE FAQ: http://goo.gl/gMZF9H; The current version is del Ferro. We currently target 1.5.1, 1.6.1, and 1.7.x. <scott_manley> anyone that doubts the wisdom of retrograde bop needs to get the hell out | https://xkcd.com/323/ | <egg> calculating the influence of lamont on Pluto is a bit silly…

PataSolar. — can the principia window's size be adjusted? my one is very wide. (the window that comes up when you click the toolbar icon)

Damien. — Yeah it doesn't quite look right compared to other windows when affected by UIscale changes

Damien. — Have a play with that setting though

Myshiko. — @鹊桥IRC for “real” interstellar flight very high warp is needed indeed. And some “longevity” assumptions about the craft. Like think should last about 40,000 years to get to the nearest star. Fortunately, there are some methods of integration that automatically select the integration step. And when gravitational forces are small, very large steps can be autoselected. So, in weak gravita

Myshiko. — So, departing Sol with 30 km/s and slowing rolling to Proxima, for example, is computationally reasonable (for a game).

Myshiko. — Also, “building an enclosed ecosystem” that lasts 40k years might be possible. You don’t get exactly the same species that departed, but, in a game it might work out. And gives some potentially fun unexpected things to introduce.

Myshiko. — Anyway, “interstellar” for me is mostly interesting in the asto-navigation and seeing cool trajectories aspect of it.

Myshiko. — An alternative to “interstellar” is a close binary systems. It would be interesting to explore something like Sol-Saturn close binary, where Saturn is 10x bigger and emits its own energy enough. Not sure what planetary trajectories would be stable (needs some tweaking), but overall would give very interesting trajectories l.
