egg changed the topic of #principia to: Logs: https://esper.irclog.whitequark.org/principia | <scott_manley> anyone that doubts the wisdom of retrograde bop needs to get the hell out | https://xkcd.com/323/ | <egg> calculating the influence of lamont on Pluto is a bit silly…

<queqiao-> ⟨Sky 🐈⬛⟩ How's it been?
<queqiao-> ⟨Sky 🐈⬛⟩ Anything new here recently, any cats reach orbit?
<queqiao-> ⟨TheCrazyInsanity⟩ idk how you guys do principia
<queqiao-> ⟨TheCrazyInsanity⟩ it looks hard
<queqiao-> ⟨TheCrazyInsanity⟩ although i said that with rp-1 until i actually tried it
<queqiao-> ⟨TheCrazyInsanity⟩ a couple times
<queqiao-> ⟨the rocket science kid⟩ ⟪TheCrazyInsanity⟫ idk how you guys do principia ⮪ I haven’t tried, heard that there’s a steep learning curve but once you get used to it you can never go back to patched conics
<queqiao-> ⟨Sky 🐈⬛⟩ last I remember it was _different_ but not really any harder, not sure if the UI changed much since I last played ages ago but there was a bit of a learning curve on that and some of the differences, but nothing crazy steep, but, I don't have the best memory and it was a long while ago asjldkflsjkdf
<queqiao-> ⟨Sky 🐈⬛⟩ it really allows you to exploit a lot of effects you just can't on patched conics
<queqiao-> ⟨the rocket science kid⟩ lagrange points, ballistic capture, low energy transfer… many nice things
<paculino> Don't forget the pretty noodles used to visualize
<queqiao-> ⟨egg⟩ 🍜
<queqiao-> ⟨pEdro⟩ ⟪TheCrazyInsanity⟫ it looks hard ⮪ the noodling about, the hanging in the sky in a way bricks do, those are things principia enables you to do.
<queqiao-> But as a beginner, the noodles are the best thing and the first thing to get good at, in some aspects id even consider it plain superior to stock behavior.
<queqiao-> Complex behavior like excentric, inclined phasing orbits, where you catch up to a target you want to dock with, without principia you would just look at MJ readout for closest approach and hope for the best, with principia you can just visually see it all in the map view

<queqiao-> ⟨Denwey⟩ ⟪TheCrazyInsanity⟫ it looks hard ⮪ For me it's actually easier
<queqiao-> ⟨Denwey⟩ Being able to see the actual path the vessel is gonna make instead of just a bunch of ellipses and parabolas
<queqiao-> ⟨Vinitri Kobsky⟩ principia is kinda hard to learn but so much easier and better to do anything
<queqiao-> ⟨Vinitri Kobsky⟩ like this
<queqiao-> ⟨7x7 Mirror Cube (Level 15)⟩ does mechjeb work with principia?
<queqiao-> ⟨Stonesmile⟩ ⟪7x7 Mirror Cube (Level 15)⟫ does mechjeb work with principia? ⮪ Ascent guidance works, and node execution works. Manoeuvres have to be planned manually though and can not be imported from MJ
<queqiao-> ⟨7x7 Mirror Cube (Level 15)⟩ geocentric moment
<queqiao-> ⟨Denwey⟩ wdym? 🤔 it's the truth and the Lord's land is flat
<raptop> Something something flat universe society
