egg changed the topic of #principia to: READ THE FAQ: http://goo.gl/gMZF9H; The current version is Catalan. We currently target 1.2.2. <scott_manley> anyone that doubts the wisdom of retrograde bop needs to get the hell out | https://xkcd.com/323/

I noticed the target frame trajectory would get a bit glitchy when predicting far into the future
<maccollo>
Plotting it all the way from LKO wasn't really possible
<egg|zzz|egg>
yeah, it's less accurate than the regular plotting frames

Hi! Can anybody help me with principia?
Rokker is now known as jep_miner2
jep_miner2 is now known as Rokker
<maccollo>
what's the problem?
<Ururh>
The problem is I can't manage landing on the Moon with principia installed and running. I can do it just fine with the stck physics, but when the principia is running it's almost impossible
<maccollo>
does the ground jitter?
<Ururh>
The surface is drawn like 1 km below the actual level. And when I manage to "touchdown" at 2-3 m/s the moon kicks the probe in the butt
<Ururh>
Sometimes I can see the correct surface andn "landed" status, but the next frame the probe is rolling at 5 m/s
<Ururh>
Like something keeps kicking it
<maccollo>
I think I know what it is
<maccollo>
is the landing site above 5000 meters?
<Ururh>
most probably
<Ururh>
yes, its 7+ km above the sea level
<maccollo>
yeah, there's the problem
<maccollo>
principia uses the height were you can timewarp as an indicator for when it's going to switch back to normal physics
<Ururh>
so you need to be below 5 km to land?
<maccollo>
yeah
<Ururh>
That quite an issue for RSS moon...
<maccollo>
well, for RSS you can just change it in kopernicus
<maccollo>
but doing so with the stock system might ruin the bop retrograde fix, not sure though
<Ururh>
Can you give me an idea, what config to hack to change this height?
<Ururh>
Yep. I modified timewarpAltitudeLimits in GameData\RealSolarSystem\RSSKopernicus\Earth\Moon.cfg and the landing went perfectly fine.

[Principia] maccollo opened issue #1413: Some stock bodies have peaks that are higher than the time warp limit https://git.io/vHCic
<GH>
[Principia] Ururh commented on issue #1413: I confirm. It's even worse in RSS, where the Moon's Lunar Seas have an altitude of 7,5 km with the default timewarp limit of 5 km. At least with RSS it can be "fixed" with Kopernicus configs. https://git.io/vHCPy
<egg|work|egg>
maccollo: hmm, interesting
<egg|work|egg>
so that would mean that in stock there are places where the rotating frame threshold is higher than the timewarp limit?
