raptop changed the topic of #principia to: READ THE FAQ: http://goo.gl/gMZF9H; The current version is Fréchet. We currently target 1.5.1, 1.6.1, and 1.7.x. <scott_manley> anyone that doubts the wisdom of retrograde bop needs to get the hell out | https://xkcd.com/323/ | <egg> calculating the influence of lamont on Pluto is a bit silly… | <egg> also 4e16 m * 2^-52 is uncomfortably large

egg. — @Butcher you have not answered the question
<discord->
egg. — what are you measuring
<discord->
egg. — are you using Principia
<discord->
Butcher. — No. I'm setting up textures for earth using kopernicus.
<discord->
egg. — and how are you measuring the numbers you report?
<discord->
egg. — (note that using Principia is relevant here, because Principia overrides any orientation done by Kopernicus)
<discord->
Butcher. — The texture alignment is not affected by having Principia installed though.
<discord->
Butcher. — The ~92 degrees is how much I have to rotate my source texture, which I believe runs from 180W to 180E longitude.
<discord->
Butcher. — Such that it gives correct mapping between game coordinates and real life.
<discord->
egg. — 90 degrees is expected (and some mirroring iirc), the reference meridian runs a quarter of the way from the edge
<discord->
egg. — still unsure how you are measuring the correctness of the mapping between game coordinates and real life
<discord->
Butcher. — Largely from KSC location. Though I'm not 100% sure that is correct.
<discord->
Butcher. — Also I was only changing one texture (the heightmap) so I aligned it with the other textures.
<discord->
Butcher. — But, yes I was expecting 90 degrees, but that did not line up.
<discord->
Butcher. — It's a large enough difference that it would be obvious, I'd either be in the North Atlantic or well inland.
<discord->
DRVeyl. — If you are using MechJeb, believe it will display surface lat/lon for your vessel. You could compare that with the known coordinate of a point on your map. (I assume MJ is using CelestialBody.GetLatLonAlt())
<discord->
Butcher. — KER does too. Also I'm going to hyperedit around a bit and make sure things are where they should be.

Myshiko. — Speaking about coordinate mapping to real life, I love to check-out the coordinates where I’ve landed in KSP and see that’s there in Google Earth. Had some very nice finds that way. So somewhat correct mapping is useful.

waptdragon3. — i once had mech drive for ~45minutes to an anomoly nearby, turns out it was an IRL military base disguised as a bunch of blurry textures
