egg changed the topic of #principia to: Logs: https://esper.irclog.whitequark.org/principia | <scott_manley> anyone that doubts the wisdom of retrograde bop needs to get the hell out | https://xkcd.com/323/ | <egg> calculating the influence of lamont on Pluto is a bit silly…
<queqiao-> ⟨Infernal⟩ here's the burn start with the blue line being the ejection angle
<queqiao-> ⟨Infernal⟩ and here's the flight plan I have been messing around with. I do not know what else I could possibly do
<queqiao-> ⟨badgermasher⟩ Out of curiosity, is there some reason you aren't using Venus-Sun aligned (or whatever we're calling that frame now) for your plotting frame?
<queqiao-> ⟨egg⟩ (Venus-Sun-Orbit)
<queqiao-> ⟨Infernal⟩ i started using it just now but it didnt get any better, it was mostly out of habit that I started using it from the beginning
<queqiao-> ⟨badgermasher⟩ I wouldn't expect it to magically fix your flight plan, was just curious why we weren't looking at that frame.
<queqiao-> ⟨Infernal⟩ yeah Idk, was just a habit
<queqiao-> ⟨expanders are superior⟩ Is the best way to deal with high twr maneuvers just better time warp and quick saving? The aerobee spool down time is really killing my tli burns
<queqiao-> ⟨Quadrupole⟩ Put RCS amd a zero-controllable mass NE core on it
<queqiao-> ⟨Quadrupole⟩ * and
<queqiao-> ⟨kwat⟩ ⟪expanders are superior⟫ Is the best way to deal with high twr […] ⮪ If you want to do the burns by hand you can try to use time control and slow time down :p
<queqiao-> ⟨expanders are superior⟩ I’ll have to combine that with quicksavjng I guess
<queqiao-> ⟨expanders are superior⟩ It’s hard to guess spookdown time when it’s in .25 speed
<queqiao-> ⟨RiccRacc⟩ what are the pros of principia against non principia
<queqiao-> ⟨Soviet Onion⟩ previously impossible orbits are now possible
<queqiao-> ⟨Paculino (ŝi/ri/she/they)⟩ Principia also adds more realism, and makes rendezvous easier.
<queqiao-> ⟨expanders are superior⟩ Not having to deal with patched conics at rss scale
<queqiao-> ⟨expanders are superior⟩ Cat pictures
<queqiao-> ⟨Soviet Onion⟩ come for the n-body physics. Stay for the cat pics
<queqiao-> ⟨Paculino (ŝi/ri/she/they)⟩ Another effect: Mascons deorbiting old probes for you can be good or bad.
<queqiao-> ⟨Soviet Onion⟩ ~just get into a frozen orbit 🧠~
<queqiao-> ⟨Farrier⟩ ⟪RiccRacc⟫ what are the pros of principia against […] ⮪ Flight planner makes much more sense to me, even if it’s hard to wrap your head around at first
<queqiao-> ⟨RiccRacc⟩ ⟪Paculino (ŝi/ri/she/they)⟫ Another effect: Mascons deorbiting old […] ⮪ Oooo

<queqiao-> ⟨Infernal⟩ how do you actually get to the L4/L5
<queqiao-> ⟨Infernal⟩ aroud Earth-Sun
<queqiao-> ⟨Infernal⟩ or Mars-Sun
<queqiao-> ⟨badgermasher⟩ Brute force is to just hack out the heliocentric period you need to lap the Earth by 60 degrees in one revolution and then painfully capture at L4 when you arrive ~300 days later. L5 you want Earth to lap you, so you're going to eject into a higher heliocentric sma. Both of these are expensive, you could save fuel doing something that takes longer.
<queqiao-> ⟨badgermasher⟩ Both the Earth-Sun and Mars-Sun L4/L5 lima beans are pretty big so there's probably plenty of wiggle room in the process.
<queqiao-> ⟨badgermasher⟩ All my experience is with Earth-Moon L4/L5, which is a more convenient target.
