egg changed the topic of #principia to: Logs: https://esper.irclog.whitequark.org/principia | <scott_manley> anyone that doubts the wisdom of retrograde bop needs to get the hell out | https://xkcd.com/323/ | <egg> calculating the influence of lamont on Pluto is a bit silly…

⟨clayel⟩ grab the inclination from the tracking station or some mj/ker info boxes, and then launch into lan
<queqiao->
⟨clayel⟩ you'll be about right
<queqiao->
⟨redtyro⟩ is there a way to paste a maneuver into the flight planner from the transfer window mod or do I just need to play with the different directions to get the total vector right?
<queqiao->
⟨redtyro⟩ like, if it says 3600 dV at a specific angle, do I need to find the appropriate prograde and binormal components of that or is there some way to just pull it in?
<queqiao->
⟨redtyro⟩ * prograde, normal,
<queqiao->
⟨lpg4999⟩ if you went into exactly the right orbit, it should always be _all_ prograde. the rest is just finetuning, and TWP can't help with that
<queqiao->
⟨redtyro⟩ gotcha
<queqiao->
⟨redtyro⟩ thanks!
<queqiao->
⟨redtyro⟩ and for getting exactly the right orbit, when TWP gives a departure date and time, is that for leaving the pad or leaving earth orbit?
<queqiao->
⟨_itsryan⟩ It's for leaving orbit. But since you're launching to a specific LAN, the best you can do is +/- 6 hours anyway. Luckily Interplanetary windows aren't that time sensitive. Due to precession you're better off launching to the correct LAN at not quite the right time vs. waiting in orbit.

⟨pinkkitten_⟩ why does a pink line appear on flight plan?
<queqiao->
⟨pinkkitten_⟩ even if I adjust the thrust of the ion thruster to 0.5%, the sat cannot stay at point l2 for more than 50 days. is there any good way to make it stay longer?
<paculino>
50 days for L2 isn't bad. L2 is a bit unstable, so you will need to do regular station keeping.
