<VITAS[m]> im open to idears on how to make spacedock more reliable
<VITAS[m]> im hesitant to mirror it (especialy its DB) to servers owned by otrhers
<VITAS[m]> others
<VITAS[m]> but if theres a more reliable server setup that doesnt cost more
<VITAS[m]> my calculations showed that everything i could find is more expensive (e.g. cloud solutions)
<VITAS[m]> i would need about 1-2TB of storage and the equivalent of a 8 core ryzen cpu with 64gb ram and 1 Gbit/s
<VITAS[m]> and it has to be in the euro zone
Darklight[m] has joined #spacedock
<Darklight[m]> I did mention before that you can do zero trust storage
<Darklight[m]> But yeah this is getting to be a bit much :-/
DasSkelett[m] has joined #spacedock
<DasSkelett[m]> But that's just encryption and stuff, not for reliability, right?
<Darklight[m]> All I can think of is having a small local storage for mods that are hit all the time so at least they don't break
<VITAS[m]> osnt that what ats does?
<VITAS[m]> people said that popular mods where working but new ones wherent
<DasSkelett[m]> I couldn't confirm that
<VITAS[m]> i give a couple of gb ssd and ram to ats to cache things
<VITAS[m]> there is certenly room to improve the rules for what is stored
<VITAS[m]> and how long
<VITAS[m]> im simply as tired as everyone else of the server not working
<VITAS[m]> and it isnt even my fault
<VITAS[m]> id wish i could have all storage in the machine again ratther than mounting it
<VITAS[m]> via smb
<VITAS[m]> all i can think of is to come up with a cronjob or watchdog that checks if the mount is working and if not does automated things to fix it
<VITAS[m]> but that wouldnt solve the need to reboot the server
<VITAS[m]> and seems like a workarround
<DasSkelett[m]> Which server product are you currently using from Hetzner?
<VITAS[m]> storage cloud and smallest amd server
<VITAS[m]> but i think it isnt listed as product you can buy anymore
<VITAS[m]> the server itself is working like a charm (i would wish for a larger ssd) its the smb mounted storage thats acting up
<VITAS[m]> so either somethign more stable or a server solution that has ssds as well as spinning disks
<VITAS[m]> so dream setup would be: 6-8 core 8th gen or newer / amd ryzen 2 nd gen or newer , 64gb ram, 1tb ssd (raid 1), 2tb+ magnetic disks (raid1) 1gbit/s connection, euro zone based
<VITAS[m]> bonus points for kvm access if need be, more than 1 ipv4 address
<VITAS[m]> price arround 70€
<VITAS[m]> i allready had the idea of renting two low end servers one with ssd and one with spining storage
<DasSkelett[m]> Yeah, Hetzner doesn't really offer something with both SSDs and HDDs, only in the very high prices.
<VITAS[m]> but thats more expensive and doenst solve the core problem
<VITAS[m]> yes but it sodesnt have to be hetzner
<VITAS[m]> all im aksing is that its hosted ion the EU and i can pay with euro
<DasSkelett[m]> Wouldn't it? It would solve the problem with dynamic IPs.
<VITAS[m]> yes but networking hickups would still be a thing
<VITAS[m]> and keep in mind the gbit port would do double duty on wan traffic and SAN traffic
<DasSkelett[m]> Doesn'T it already?
<VITAS[m]> yes
<VITAS[m]> but we are talking about solutions
<VITAS[m]> its more expensive anyways so no need to think about it
<VITAS[m]> i find 70 € a lot of money anyways
<Darklight[m]> I would be surprised if networking hickups were a thing in a datacenter, apart from your sceduled downtimes you get
<VITAS[m]> the dual server setup would be at least 80 or more
<DasSkelett[m]> How important are the SSDs? The AX41 for example would be quite cheap with 39,44€, and have 2x2TB, 64GB RAM and an Ryzen 5 3600.
<VITAS[m]> ssds are very important
<VITAS[m]> i had magnetic drives before
<VITAS[m]> and it killed performance
<VITAS[m]> if you do VMs you need ssds
<Darklight[m]> You can back it with ram though, you have 64gb 😛
<Darklight[m]> Oh
<Darklight[m]> I keep forgetting about the containerisation thingy
<VITAS[m]> remember the old server? that had 32gb and magnetic disks
<VITAS[m]> always suffered from that especialy DB
<VITAS[m]> and that didnt do VMs
<VITAS[m]> you can add parts to servers with hetzner
<VITAS[m]> but the right to do it alone costs like 15 € /month
cukkoo[m] has joined #spacedock
<cukkoo[m]> Do you guy know anywhere to ask this question. Why my part go invisible with custom explosion FX.I try on ksp forum no one reply.😩
<cukkoo[m]> also the part radial attachment and some node is gone
<cukkoo[m]> and there are no way of selecting it

<SoccerKJH2008[m]> why can i not delete my account on spacedock
<SoccerKJH2008[m]> LIKE THATS ALL I WANNA FREAKING DO IS JUST DELETE MY ACCOUNT
<SoccerKJH2008[m]> Please someone help

<DasSkelett[m]> No need to write caps lock. Just stay friendly and patient, increases the chance that someone is going to help you.
<SoccerKJH2008[m]> Can you help?
<DasSkelett[m]> We currently don't have an option for users to delete their accounts. It has to be done manually, tagging VITAS.
<SoccerKJH2008[m]> So he will help
<SoccerKJH2008[m]> ?
<SoccerKJH2008[m]> But how do you not have an option to delete account
<DasSkelett[m]> You can write an e-mail to support@spacedock.info from the email address you used to register your account requesting to delete it,
<DasSkelett[m]> he'll need it to confirm that you are who you say you are.
<DasSkelett[m]> Because nobody implemented it yet SoccerKJH2008, that's how things are if they're run by a bunch of volunteers.
