<VITAS[m]> ho
<FireStriker[m]> im wondering, how does the modpack feature work.
<VITAS[m]> not well
<VITAS[m]> it generates a link list
<VITAS[m]> nothing more
<FireStriker[m]> do you past the link or the name? no matter how many times i hit add mod it doesnt do anything
<FireStriker[m]> fine if it doesnt work im just wondering whats up with that
<VITAS[m]> normaly i would do the link
<VITAS[m]> but to be honest i think its useless and broken
<VITAS[m]> and im voting for a more usefull: offer a zip conting all mods you add to a pack
<VITAS[m]> +a
<FireStriker[m]> ^ thats how i already do it. i just thought i would give this a shot and not do a repack that might break some modder licenses

<DasSkelett[m]> It'll be improved in the next update: https://github.com/KSP-SpaceDock/SpaceDock/pull/293
<VITAS[m]> no it wont
<VITAS[m]> you can pack the uploaded file into another file
<VITAS[m]> no license in the world can forbid that
<FireStriker[m]> what about the ones on github only?
<VITAS[m]> and in fact most site do that
<FireStriker[m]> i thought repacks were a little iffy
<FireStriker[m]> good to know im not breaking anything
<FireStriker[m]> tbh if it was a public mod pack i would worry bit its not
<VITAS[m]> if you dont touch the original zip file and its offered by the same site a person offered it on
<VITAS[m]> so i would never encourage someone to dl stuff from one site and up it on another
<VITAS[m]> or do modpackes and hsot them on spacedock
<VITAS[m]> host
<DasSkelett[m]> No, you can't rebundle every mod, there _are_ licenses prohibiting that, especially if you don't include the README, LICENSE text and (link to) source code.
<VITAS[m]> noone is taalking about unpacking things
<VITAS[m]> never was
<VITAS[m]> i wont go down this discussion agaein :/
<VITAS[m]> -e
<DasSkelett[m]> I thought that's what FireStriker meant with they planned to "repack" mods.
<VITAS[m]> i hope not
<DasSkelett[m]> I'm not talking about SpaceDock, but in general users repacking modpacks @VITAS
<VITAS[m]> k
<VITAS[m]> i think he was asking about the modpack feature wasnt he?
<VITAS[m]> or what did you want to say?
<FireStriker[m]> dont bite my head off, all i do is zip the gamedata minus the squad files
<VITAS[m]> still
<FireStriker[m]> its not a public mod pack so i dont worry about it more then i should
<VITAS[m]> you shouldnt do that publicly
<FireStriker[m]> yep this is private
<VITAS[m]> then i havent seen anything
<FireStriker[m]> thanks
<VITAS[m]> and as a german ist a private copy and thus legal
<VITAS[m]> :)
<FireStriker[m]> if covid wasnt around it would be a usb transfer as well, not even uploaded
<DasSkelett[m]> If it's only for you and your friends and you don't upload it anywhere (especially not SpaceDock), nobody will care. Just don't make it public, mod authors will get very very angry at you.
<FireStriker[m]> thats the way i look at it
<VITAS[m]> anywhere public
<VITAS[m]> if its pw protected or something like that its fine
<VITAS[m]> but i guess you know that
<FireStriker[m]> . . .
<VITAS[m]> i in general dont like modpacks on spacedock legal or not
<FireStriker[m]> its under a pw now but at first it wasnt
<VITAS[m]> they are no mods in themselves
<FireStriker[m]> moved from GDrive to OneDrive not that long ago and thats when i added the password
<VITAS[m]> G-> O
<VITAS[m]> quite a bit of letters
<VITAS[m]> :P
<FireStriker[m]> Yep lol
<VITAS[m]> ive a nextclound instance
<VITAS[m]> for that
<FireStriker[m]> I wouldnt have done the move but i was running low on space and my laptop already autosyncs to OD
<FireStriker[m]> drag drop ping server of a new mod pack update
<VITAS[m]> hmm my nextcloud instance has about 40TB of space
<VITAS[m]> :D
<FireStriker[m]> Im too cheap to pay for GDrive. I already get 1TB on OD thanks to Office365(One pro of the sub model)
<VITAS[m]> i only payed for the harddrives
<VITAS[m]> now its sort of free
<VITAS[m]> i also think everything thats free makes you the product
<VITAS[m]> i dont want that
<FireStriker[m]> For the most part GDrive is good
<VITAS[m]> its google so i dont trust it not beeing nosy
<VITAS[m]> same with ms
<FireStriker[m]> I have videos on my drive that havent been touch
<VITAS[m]> how do you knwo?
<VITAS[m]> know
<VITAS[m]> bu i understand that some people dont have a problem with their stuff being public and that trust in big companies like google differs.
<VITAS[m]> +t

<HebaruSan[m]> > do you past the link or the name? no matter how many times i hit add mod it doesnt do anything
<HebaruSan[m]> FireStriker It's quirky, you can't just type the mod's name, you have to wait for it to appear in the dropdown and click it in the dropdown specifically. Otherwise the page doesn't know which mod it is.
<HebaruSan[m]> At least that part of the (modpack editing) page semi works, some other parts of it are just plain broken (the up/down arrows to reorder the mods IIRC)
<FireStriker[m]> Could a setting be added so you can tell the site what ksp version your on/looking for.
<HebaruSan[m]> Feel like submitting a feature request for that? https://github.com/KSP-SpaceDock/SpaceDock/issues/new
<VITAS[m]> theres a gamever search param
