Consider: A human has an energy output of ~100 W, and a surface area of ~2 m². Via the Stephan-Boltzmann equation, we can therefore conclude that a human has an effective temperature of ~172 K.

scott manley was saying that ksp physics does collisionbox detection for collisions, this is nice and simple yadda yadda, but if something passes through it between frames, it doesn't register. How hard or intensive would it be to have rays or something generated frame by frame and then tested to see if it would've collided?
<SnoopJeDi>
SilverFox, "rays or something" is pretty unspecific.
<SilverFox>
I'm not trying to be specific
<SilverFox>
otherwise i would be, the point isn't to be specific
<SnoopJeDi>
And for a game, suppose the answer is "yes" and you detected that you "skipped" a collision. How would you resolve this without (likely) sacrificing the realtime constraint?
<SilverFox>
explosion
<SilverFox>
do the big boom
<SnoopJeDi>
So any object that touches any other object explodes
<SilverFox>
idk man
<SilverFox>
I aint thought this far
<SnoopJeDi>
Yes well that was the point of my question but you bristled to that.
<SnoopJeDi>
well, not question, remark.
<SilverFox>
doesn't ksp have a number for the force an object can handle before explosion?
<SilverFox>
explosiveForce or something?

<SilverFox>
the ray would find what part is intersected, and you do the F=ma fancy matherinos and impart momentum onto it
<UmbralRaptor>
Impact something?
<SilverFox>
something like that, it's been 3 years since I've modded ksp
