Ringo. — -2000 Delta V to orbit Venus isn't enough?
<discord->
Al2Me6. — That question very much depends on your trajectory
<discord->
Ringo. — Wdym
<discord->
Al2Me6. — Different Venus transfers are going to result in vastly different arrival velocities
<discord->
egg. — your screenshot says you are zooming by at 14 km/s
<discord->
Ringo. — Yeah
<discord->
egg. — shaving 2 off of that leaves you at 12 km/s
<discord->
egg. — that is still more than 1 km/s above escape velocity at the surface
<discord->
(ᴇxᴘᴇʀɪᴍᴇɴᴛᴀʟshells). — in other news, you need to refine your initial burn from Earth
<raptop>
I mean, LEO -> escape is ~3.4 km/s. So unless you're fine with a highly elliptical orbit...

badgermasher. — I don't think I do anything other than set the reference frame to Venus/Mars-Centered Sun-Aligned. Are you looking for something more than that? The concepts page should help you out here if you haven't reviewed it recently.
<discord->
badgermasher. — Although the concepts page does suggest the barycenter fixed frame for transfers. So maybe I've been doing it wrong all along, or I'm not remembering which button I hit.
<discord->
egg. — I think the concepts page is just confused; the barycentric frame is mostly pointless.
<discord->
badgermasher. — It does look neat though, so it has that going for it.
<discord->
badgermasher. — If it's any help, how I do it. Note that the inertially fixed and instant impulse checkboxes are peculiar to this particular thing, not general buttons I always check. https://i.imgur.com/fgLFDVZ.png (edited)

Al2Me6. — I feel like a heathen for using VCI...
<discord->
lpg. — *CI works well for finetuning close approach. particularly to cut down noise from moon orbit lines
<discord->
lpg. — *CSA tends to give more intuitive trajectories for plotting the rough transfer

Ashnoom. — Thanks you three. Will surely help. My first attempt failed miserably though, executed plan was millions of meters off the planned trajectory. Not sure what happened exactly.
<discord->
lpg. — millions of meters is pretty small
