egg changed the topic of #principia to: Logs: https://esper.irclog.whitequark.org/principia | <scott_manley> anyone that doubts the wisdom of retrograde bop needs to get the hell out | https://xkcd.com/323/ | <egg> calculating the influence of lamont on Pluto is a bit silly…
<raptop>
. o O (port Principia to J:NO)
<raptop>
before I get the wrath of egg, this is a joke
<queqiao->
⟨naautilus⟩ coade shouldnt be looked at as a performance example
<queqiao->
⟨naautilus⟩ lag is like O(n^3) with vehicle count
<queqiao->
⟨pisslover72⟩ yeah
<queqiao->
⟨womby_⟩ Does principia have greater performance impacts when in an atmosphere? Because suddenly Zyklon is getting like, 12 fps if I use physical timewarp when launching?
<queqiao->
⟨womby_⟩ This is with history set to 3 hours and the map decluttered
<queqiao->
⟨womby_⟩ Having trouble plotting the braking burn - it's giving me this error. Problem is if I increase the slider it wants me to increase, the game lags out to like 5fps
<queqiao->
⟨Rad - LR-87 fanatic⟩ Does the burn trajectory intersect the moon?

⟨test_account9540⟩ Increase the tolerance setting, the default 1m is not good, should be 10 or maybe even 100
<queqiao->
Incresae the number of steps from default 1024 to 4096 or 16384 depending on plan length
<queqiao->
Don't plan long stays in low orbit, it doesn't work well
<queqiao->
⟨test_account9540⟩ +(but 12h is of course ok)

⟨sichelgaita⟩ I'm not sure what you are after, but yes, we wrote tests and benchmarks: look at "physics/geopotential_test.cpp" and "benchmarks/geopotential_benchmark.cpp" in https://github.com/mockingbirdnest/Principia. Also the implementation details are documented in "documentation/Geopotential.pdf".
<queqiao->
⟨pisslover72⟩ i was hoping for test/benchmark results since it's not possible for me myself to run these tests/benchamrks atm. it's fine if you dont have anything written down though.

⟨sichelgaita⟩ Largely off-topic, but here are the benchmarks on my machine. The number after the "/" is the degree of the geopotential:

> a save with many skopos contracts activeis new too
<queqiao->
⟨Kirk (He/Him)⟩ I currently have 17 connections active, which is probably higher than anything your alphas could have generated but still a worringly low number to have a severe performance impact
<queqiao->
⟨egg⟩ Yes, if anything takes 5 min something has gone terribly wrong.
<queqiao->
⟨Kirk (He/Him)⟩ I can trigger it intentionally and send you the log
<queqiao->
⟨womby_⟩ I just realised that this is a reference frame in Principia. is there any actual useful applications to this or is just there before why not
