egg changed the topic of #principia to: Logs: https://esper.irclog.whitequark.org/principia | <scott_manley> anyone that doubts the wisdom of retrograde bop needs to get the hell out | https://xkcd.com/323/ | <egg> calculating the influence of lamont on Pluto is a bit silly…
<queqiao->
⟨lamont⟩ "top... men"
<queqiao->
⟨issproxima⟩ Any idea how to do a Earth-Moon L2 Halo orbit ?
<queqiao->
⟨razgriz16⟩ Just continually rebase the same flight plan with the current version 😬
<queqiao->
That way you still get optimization
<queqiao->
⟨redtyro⟩ is mechjeb fixed for that? last time I played, mj was only accurate at executing a burn if it was the first one in a flight plan
<queqiao->
⟨redtyro⟩ any one after that would overburn
<queqiao->
⟨razgriz16⟩ You can delete maneuver nodes just fine right now, it’s just when you go to delete the whole flight plan that it crashes. So you can literally just rebase delete all your nodes, rebase, and it’s like you’ve created a new flight plan
<queqiao->
⟨redtyro⟩ that'll work, thanks!
<queqiao->
⟨lamont⟩ the outright horrible bugginess with multiple nodes and MJ node execution is fixed, but you're still going to get compounding inaccuracies with every burn
<queqiao->
⟨redtyro⟩ even if you're rebasing right before the burn and adjusting it accordingly?
<queqiao->
⟨lamont⟩ i don't know what 'rebasing' is, i'm probably out of date with principia knowledge
<queqiao->
⟨lamont⟩ you're probably going to have to answer that question yourself
<queqiao->
⟨redtyro⟩ it'll probably be ok - rebase is the button that recalculates your flight plan based on your immediate conditions, to account for things like if you've drifted since the last calculation
<queqiao->
⟨redtyro⟩ it updates your planned maneuvers
_whitelogger has joined #principia
<queqiao->
⟨_newhere⟩ Unfortunately rebasing only updates the trajectory, not the vessel mass(other then the mass shed from the maenouvers). This leads to incorrect burn time estimates. The only way that I know to recalculate the vessel mass is deleting the flight plan and creating a new one.
<queqiao->
That being said, for most practical use-cases, you only need one big burn that need to be perfectly timed - the transfer burn. The rest of the maenouvers are usually tiny course corrections and a capture burn that don't need to be that accurate.
<queqiao->
⟨egg⟩ Pressing rebase does update the initial mass.
<queqiao->
⟨egg⟩ Now hotfixed. Please redownload Jordan.
<queqiao->
⟨makoivis⟩ redownloaded, let's see
<queqiao->
⟨razgriz16⟩ Updated Principia and now both deleting a flight plan and the "Analyze Final Orbit" seem to be working again. Thank y'all for your quick work!
