<DasSkelett>
Yeah I'm just searching for your comment in the forum thread, I remember you already wrote something there
<VITAS>
query
<VITAS>
change your pw as soon as possible
<DasSkelett>
Yep
<VITAS>
i take it that you know or can findout how znc works
<DasSkelett>
I'll find out :)
<VITAS>
pretty easy. ask if you cant
<VITAS>
how god are you with linux?
<DasSkelett>
About 1 year full-time usage by now, so I think I know most basics
<DasSkelett>
At least I got nginx to run on my system :D
<VITAS>
apt get install ngnix
<VITAS>
?
<VITAS>
:D
<DasSkelett>
Well yeah okay
<VITAS>
If youre arround for longer and i get to know you better i might be willing to offer you a playground in form of the bnc host
<DasSkelett>
But configuring it for multiple sites/applications as rev proxy and getting it to connect to php sockets and stuff, that was the tough part
<VITAS>
(im trying to "outsource" the admin work on things so i can concentrate on the rest of my life a bit)
<DasSkelett>
I just wanted to try it out, Abache might have been easier
<VITAS>
apache webserver is the old guy in the block. so its stable and many people knwo loads about it
<VITAS>
but i think nginx is a good bet if you are new to the scene
<VITAS>
i mainly use apache webserver because its that what was arround wehn i started hosting linux webservers
<VITAS>
ATS on the other hand is something i got from hosting CDNs at work
<DasSkelett>
I'll probably play around with Apache too later on. I'm the "just try it out" type of person
<VITAS>
yes
<VITAS>
i found that running ATS in front of everything has some advantages even for small installations
<VITAS>
if you have 1 public ipv4 you can have one central 443&80 endpoint
<VITAS>
but many webservice hosts behind
<VITAS>
and it slaps http/2&SSL onto everything
<VITAS>
so no worrys if youre runnign some crapping http setup internaly
<VITAS>
bonus: letsencrypt certs have to only be updated on ATS not every webserver
<DasSkelett>
thats nice
<DasSkelett>
Let's try ZNC out, wish me luck
DasSkelett has quit [Quit: Quit.]
DasSkelett has joined #spacedock
<DasSkelett>
It worked :O
<VITAS>
so it worked?
<DasSkelett>
I think so
<VITAS>
yay
<VITAS>
(~DasSkelet@mx.52k.de) <missing a t
<DasSkelett>
Oh come on
<VITAS>
just nitpicking
<DasSkelett>
That's quite interesting, since it isn't missing anywhere else, neither in my local IRC program identity settings, nor on the webfrontend nor in the chat itself
<DasSkelett>
I triple checked now everything, can't find a missing 't' anywhere. So yeah, it works, I'm fine with it.
<Lartza>
It's just too long, it cuts the last T off from your username but not nickname so it's fine
<Lartza>
VITAS, Do you have a trust to esper?
<Lartza>
Because you don't even seem to be running an identd :S
<Lartza>
Which might be a good idea
<VITAS>
i could
<Lartza>
You are usually required if you offer services
<Lartza>
Also of course limited connection number without trust, I have one for quakenet only myself
* VITAS
has a good realtionship to the espernet guys
<Lartza>
Yeah but something automated won't ask :P
<VITAS>
my hosts have an increased limit
<VITAS>
but still: ill set something up when i get the time
<Lartza>
I don't know why but my servers at hetzner haven't been the most reliable lately
<DasSkelett>
So theoretically, if I leave this channel now and reconnect, it shouldn't show up for you, and I keep the chat history. Did I get that right?
<Lartza>
Especially with IRC
<VITAS>
i didnt have any problems
<VITAS>
DasSkelett, yes
<VITAS>
or more like
<VITAS>
it shows waht happened while youre away
<DasSkelett>
Ah okay
<VITAS>
i think it still removes old stuff but there are logs and plugins
<VITAS>
check the webfrontend
<VITAS>
for settings
<DasSkelett>
Okay
<RockyTV>
as long as you don't part the channel you're fine
