Wow thats some backlog. ill read it later :)
<VITAS[m]>
What RockyTV suggested is exactly what im talking about all along. I want to putt all zip file sas zip files untouched into tar file or alike so that a user gets ALL zip files in one download
<VITAS[m]>
no unziping of mod dl or even tinkering with the contents
<VITAS[m]>
if people want one click INSTALL they should use ckan
<VITAS[m]>
in addition to the mod zip files we are fre to add whatever we want or need to the global archive like readmes that explain where the mod comes from who is responsible and so on
<VITAS[m]>
i see tinkering with the actual files authors upload a no go
<VITAS[m]>
the only way you can initiad multiple downloads at once is via ajax or iframes. but it would pop up multiple dl windows so how anoying would that be
<VITAS[m]>
thats why i pruposed the tar/zip all zip files
<VITAS[m]>
how does the modpack system currently work?
<VITAS[m]>
i would diverge from that
<VITAS[m]>
i think its doable from a serve rload perspective to even to the combining on the fly
<VITAS[m]>
so when a user wants to dl a pack
<VITAS[m]>
and to compare SD to github or curseforge: people arent but shoudl be aware that SD is run with negative profit
<VITAS[m]>
if i where microsoft and could afford to dump billions of $ into servers availability would be different and you would be the first to get moeny for what your doing :)
