<Eddi|zuHause> isn't that what all patents are nowadays?
<Eddi|zuHause> that's basically how you get an "extension" to your patent
<Eddi|zuHause> and when someone tries to clone the old patent, you sue them anyway over the new one, and hope they give up trying to prove that they didn't clone the "improvement"
<Eddi|zuHause> and you got a giant pile of such patents, and each one has to be invalidated individually

<Mat2ch> Breakting Taps got his hands on SpaceX heat tiles
<Mat2ch> and compares them to what NASA built in the 70s/80s

<packbart> do they pass the Frozen Foam test?
<Althego> the spacex tiles? they fall off when the engines start
<Althego> they probably fall off from filling the tanks
<Althego> that can be the problem of the holding mechanism too
Fluburtur has joined #KSPOfficial
<Eddi|zuHause> but isn't falling a problem with the glue, rather than the tiles?
darsie has quit [Ping timeout: 195 seconds]
<Mat2ch> Some are glued, some are clamped on
darsie has joined #KSPOfficial
<Althego> you can see lot of spikes on the surface of the rocket. if you look closely they have a special shape. those clamp into the ceramic tile
<Althego> but it is a fact they often lose these tiles from the shortest of action with the ship, like a static fire test
<Mat2ch> mostly at the weld seams
<Mat2ch> the tiles are glued there

<umaxtu> I wonder if sealing the megabays will help with the tile adhesion
<Eddi|zuHause> !mission
<LunchBot> You decide to recreate Project Pluto. The on-board computer locks you outside the airlock.
<umaxtu> good
<Althego> you are safer there anyway
<umaxtu> Project Pluto was insane
<FLHerne> Is that the nuclear fallout drone?
<FLHerne> yes-ish, nuclear-powered-and-armed supersonic cruise missile

<Eddi|zuHause> was that the one where they wanted to nuke another panama canal?
<umaxtu> through Israel iirc?

<packbart> there were several proposals. The Pan-Atomic Canal and the Alternate Suez Canal were different plans. I mostly remember it for the Chariot schemes of creating harbors
<FLHerne> .outcome add The project becomes the new benchmark for insane engineering concepts, displacing Plowshare and Orion.

<FLHerne> .stupid Fairbanks

<umaxtu> wow, prop load time for SS/SH reduced to as little as 50 minutes
<Pinkbeast> I hope that isn't a KSP mod because sheesh
<packbart> I think that mean propellant loading time for a real Starship/Superheavy stack
<packbart> could just time-warp in KSP ;)
<darsie> umaxtu: Since we say B8S25 or so, I suggested abbreviating booster with B, ship with S an calling the stack BS :).
<umaxtu> works for me
