<FLHerne>
I was referring to Scott Manley's recent tragic demise, but now I wonder if he had that in mind :p

Althego: One of the first things we all learn in KSP is: Don't build a tall lander. Make it wide. :D
<darsie>
My SST Mun was tall.
<darsie>
Took a lot of time warp to land without falling over.
<darsie>
umm time ... travel

Ok, let's see what's on Tylo ...

"Plant a flag on Pol", "Obtain a sample report of the strange creature on Laythe", "Find the source of the mysterious Signal on the surface of Tylo." 3 in 1 mission?

OMG, can you please get the numbers right. Tylo Physical Characteristics circumference = 7.56 AU ...
<Eddi|zuHause>
maybe that's why it always gets in the way? :p

Jeb can't stop snorting chloramine, and we all know what THAT means... You become the newest member of the People's front of Kerbin.

<darsie>
Hmm, the maps say delta v to orbit is higher for Laythe vs Tylo, but Tylo has higher escape velocity.
<darsie>
Orbit velocity is sqrt(GM/r), escape velocity is sqrt(2GM/r),
<darsie>
Well, you need to fight the atmosphere on Laythe.

<Althego>
but for laythe you can use jets
<Althego>
one of the easiest bodies for orbiting
<darsie>
"If you find a creature, bring back samples. Carefully." Objectives: "Obtain a Sample Report of the strange creature on Laythe."
<darsie>
Can I transmit that?
<Eddi|zuHause>
i don't think so :p
<Eddi|zuHause>
it probably works like mun rocks?
<darsie>
Or is obtaining a sample report enough?
<darsie>
Kerbin reentry without heatshield is hot, but possible.
<darsie>
fairing "ejection force" is a strange thing. Should be force*distance=energy or so.

Hi everyone here, Does anyone know how to switch the kspie thermal turbojet from air-breathing to closed cycle? I am trying to make a replica of The Beardy Penguin's Condor SSTO he used in his beyond kerbol series. I am Lqd CO2 as fuel for when I get into vacuum and have plenty of it, but the change propellant buttons and windows in flight are doing nothing.
<darsie>
Applying 100 kN over 1 cm is diffent from 1 m.
<darsie>
mib_tkin35: Did you try RMB?
<darsie>
I guess you did.
<mib_tkin35>
what RMB
<darsie>
idk, my mouse has only one ;).
<mib_tkin35>
when i click the fuel tab it just shows a single box with atmosphere in it
<mib_tkin35>
oh right mouse butter
<mib_tkin35>
*butten
<mib_tkin35>
sorry did not realize that
<darsie>
or so :)
<mib_tkin35>
yea i did
<mib_tkin35>
did not do anything either
<mib_tkin35>
and i have found that my craft blows up half the time you load it in
<darsie>
I wondered why we don't use CO2 or so irl. so easy to store. Just heat it a bit before exhaust.
<mib_tkin35>
for some reason
<mib_tkin35>
people are using it to make tiny artifical dimonds for super hard tools
<mib_tkin35>
but i think thats about it
<darsie>
Ahh, cool. I've thought about creating high pressure like that, too.
<darsie>
Maybe heating water. Or freezing it.
<mib_tkin35>
idk
