UmbralRaptop changed the topic of #principia to: READ THE FAQ: http://goo.gl/gMZF9H; The current version is 🐇. We currently target 1.5.1, 1.6.1, and 1.7.x. <scott_manley> anyone that doubts the wisdom of retrograde bop needs to get the hell out | https://xkcd.com/323/ | <egg> calculating the influence of lamont on Pluto is a bit silly…

<discord-> Antstar. — That problem is not principia. I don't know what it is, but I think it is related to our solar system being too big. I had it in KSP before even trying RO, when using mods that put planets and comets really far out
<discord-> Damien. — yeah but if the lines aren't being drawn they can't flicker

<discord-> Sir Mortimer. — but what if they still do even though noone is drawing them?
<discord-> Damien. — OMG
<discord-> egg. — oh hi @Sir Mortimer
<discord-> egg. — btw I'll also make the history length selector more human readable as part of this (change it to the same kind of duration control we have everywhere)
<discord-> egg. — @Damien, @Kenira, et al., please try poking at the orbit analyser when you want to figure things out about the stability of your orbits, and ask if there are things that you don't understand
<discord-> egg. — if I don't have feedback on what is confusing I can't improve it so it will stay obscure
<discord-> Damien. — will do. I'm planning on starting to play ksp again when the new celestial trajectory stuff releases
<discord-> Damien. — not really had the drive to play for a while but that and the orbit analyser have got me interested
<discord-> Antstar. — @egg What is it useful for. I poked at it and didn't tsee anything there that could help me
<discord-> egg. — understanding what will happen to your satellite in the future
<discord-> egg. — will it crash? will its orbit change? will it stay in the orbit you want it to be in (e.g. GEO or something fancier)
<discord-> egg. — it also has some documentation: https://github.com/mockingbirdnest/Principia/wiki/Orbit-analysis

<discord-> lpg. — I got ok results using it to match periods of 4 relay sats in a square formation, they stayed squareish for a good amount of time. But I had no real idea _which_ of the 3 periods I ought to match

<discord-> egg. — @lpg what's the inclinations of your sats
<discord-> egg. — they're squareish in the same plane, I suppose
<discord-> lpg. — they are. whatever inclination you get launching east from cape canaveral
<discord-> egg. — @lpg okay so what you probably want here is the nodal period
<discord-> egg. — that's (roughly) how often they cross the equator (in one direction)
<discord-> egg. — and you want that to happen at regular intervals
<discord-> egg. — the anomalistic period is how often they hit perigee, and that won't be at regular intervals
<discord-> egg. — but it probably matters less that their perigees stay evenly spread out than their nodes
<discord-> egg. — @lpg what you *absolutely* want is that they have the same nodal precession
