⟨TheSquirrelPatrol⟩ Incoming wall of text, I'm hoping for a clear explanation of what I've done wrong and how I do this right. I'm trying to a lunar flyby/orbit/impact, with a Thor-Able, in 1957. Using what I see in the chat above, I did:
<queqiao->
⟨TheSquirrelPatrol⟩ Step 1: Consult MoonNodes_ANDN.csv linked above, find that there is an AN node at 8/13/1957 14:36, and a DN node at 8/26/1957 15:54
<queqiao->
Step 2: I'm supposed to enter the launch scene ~5 days before that window, so warp to 8/21 and click "launch"
<queqiao->
Step 3: Target the moon, bring up the Mechjeb Target window and get the target LAN of 259.73 degrees
<queqiao->
⟨TheSquirrelPatrol⟩ Step 4: Set up PVG for a low circular parking orbit, put the 259.73 value into the "Launch to target LAN" box
<queqiao->
Step 5: Click the Launch to Target LAN button, engage autopilot
<queqiao->
Step 6: During the final countdown to launch, click the "Abort" button on Launch to Target LAN, and just do a normal due east ascent to a 28.45 inclination 180x180 orbit. Launch is at 1957-08-22 19:18:56
<queqiao->
Step 7: Once in parking orbit, set up a manuever at the Earth-Moon DN
<queqiao->
⟨TheSquirrelPatrol⟩ And I'm nowhere near anything like a lunar transfer orbit
<queqiao->
⟨TheSquirrelPatrol⟩ It looks in fact like I'm exactly opposite on my parking orbit. Should I have launched to some specific inclination?
<queqiao->
⟨expanders are superior⟩ This is. It the advice you’re looking for but I use itsryans kos script which is a lot easier
<queqiao->
⟨expanders are superior⟩ Places you in a parking orbit where you can easily reach the moon at AN and DN nodes
<queqiao->
⟨TheSquirrelPatrol⟩ I've heard of the script, but don't see it linked anywhere, or instructions on how to use it. I don't normally play with kos
<queqiao->
⟨TheSquirrelPatrol⟩ And I'd at least like to understand what I was trying to do, even if I let a script do it for me
<queqiao->
⟨TheSquirrelPatrol⟩ I'll try it, but I'd still like an answer on where I went wrong.
<queqiao->
⟨lpg⟩ steps 4-6 don't sound right, but I'm not at a point in my career where I can see the UI for myself to confirm my memory: The 'launch to _target_ lan' isn't one you should give a value to; you probably wanted the 'launch to LAN' line instead
<queqiao->
⟨lpg⟩ (alternately, 'launch to target LAN' and leave its value to zero would be equivalent for this specific case)
<queqiao->
⟨TheSquirrelPatrol⟩ Launch to LAN with the target LAN value was the correct answer, thanks
<queqiao->
⟨TheSquirrelPatrol⟩ DOH! I aimed for an impact, assuming that I would miss by enough to get a close flyby that I could hope to turn into an orbit.
<queqiao->
⟨TheSquirrelPatrol⟩ Based on the real performance of the early unguided moon shots, I think I'll accept an impact and be happy with it
<queqiao->
⟨(ᴇxᴘᴇʀɪᴍᴇɴᴛᴀʟshells)⟩ ⟪TheSquirrelPatrol⟫ DOH! I aimed for an impact, assuming […] ⮪ (Luna 1)^{-1}

⟨QeDelphyn (Xšayāršā/-ām/-āyā)⟩ I am having a phantom thrust(?) issue:
<queqiao->
Just got my first kerbal into orbit and was waiting for Apoapsis to come in ~1 minute to use the sep motors to circularize. Instead of ticking down at a normal pace the time to apoapsis only does so slowly and instead the Apoapsis hight keeps slowly increasing.
