<queqiao--> <sichelgaita> And then there is the discrete nature of floating-point. 2 light years away from the Sun, the quantum of displacement is about 2 meters. So the parts of the vessel will overlap (or be torn apart) and the Unity colliders will detect this and the vessel will explode. I imagine that this would happen as soon as the quantum reaches millimeter scale, which is around 100 AU from the Sun.
<queqiao--> <pineconez> Use integers only, with 1 distance unit = 1 pm. I foresee no problems with this approach and will not be taking questions :lul: https://cdn.discordapp.com/emojis/911993888611393587.png

<raptop> So, 80 bit integers at a minimum? (alternatively, hey, a usecase for 128 bit numbers!)
<queqiao--> <pineconez> make it 256 bit in case someone wants to simulate a subatomic particle at a redshift of "yes" 👍

<queqiao--> <Sky 🐈⬛> Just retroactively run all possible simulations and find the minimum precision to do everything without any errors of course /s
