Your payload grossly exceeds the design mass of your vehicle. At least the more distant seismic sensors will get a lot of data from that.
<XXCoder>
so it fell apart on stand and triggered quake sensors. must be very heavy

XXCoder: no, it's the Quantum drive. And if it works in space it could mean that Mike McCulloch is right, even though he is a nutjob
<Mat2ch>
and then all the dark matter research can be halted. Which will make many people very unhappy.

<Pinkbeast>
Personally I'd be delighted if dark matter turned out not to exist, it's spooky and unreasonable, but I doubt it's going to happen as a result of yet another magic reactionless drive
<Althego>
the phenomenon called as dark matter does exist. what it is, if it is actual matter or something else, is not known yet
<Pinkbeast>
I think there's at least some "things happen differently if they're a long way away" setups (gravity not being quite inverse-square over very long distances) which make the need for dark matter vanish. (To be clear, I don't think it's _likely_ this'll turn out to be the case, it just would be nice if it did)
<Pinkbeast>
I found very amusing the Ken Macleod novel where our universe is simulated (this is very illegal, and the computer running it is discovered by space marines from the Library of Alexandria in the real universe) and because the people who set it up used a bodged physics model for the cosmology - why bother, we're just running cavemen - the people in the simulation have come up with "dark matter" to
<Pinkbeast>
explain the bugs
<Althego>
what i heard about this from sabine hossenfelder, neither hypothesis (particle or modified gravity) can explain everything
<Mat2ch>
there's another theory called Qi by McCulloch and nobody talks about it (because he's a nutjob)
<packbart>
my personal nut is that we live in a vapour bubble of Universal Goo and that the "dark matter" are the already condensed parts ;)

<FLHerne>
too peccable
<Pinkbeast>
Althego: Mmm, and they do look like they're stretching just to make dark matter go away
<Pinkbeast>
(on the other hand the idea that half the universe is spooky invisible stuff that conveniently only has mass and doesn't do anything else is a bit of a stretch too)

You launch a rocket with 20 unsuspecting kerbals to sacrifice to the Kraken. Maybe you're a gifted visionary - but from ten thousand miles away it's hard to tell the difference between that and an obsessive lunatic.
<XXCoder>
tried to find more reliable sources for that drive thing. yeah random sites so I still highly doubt it
<XXCoder>
I still hope its a thing however, like I did for emdrive as unlikely it was
<Pinkbeast>
I mean, I hope there's three unicorns in my garden, but I doubt it
<XXCoder>
lol
<Pinkbeast>
And if there was a long history of charlatans going into my garden with horses, horns, and duct tape, I would be especially dubious
<XXCoder>
indeed
<XXCoder>
if someone wanted to invest in company with that drive id say nope
<XXCoder>
hoping dont mean willful blindness
<Pinkbeast>
TBH now they have a worse claim. The "em drive"'s micronewton thrusts could be hard to pick up, but outright antigravity? They don't need to go into space to demo it, a cart on an icerink would do
<XXCoder>
not quite antigravity. enough to counter it plus very small amount over
<Pinkbeast>
Indeed not, I am not wilfully blind to the probability that unicorns are in my garden
<Pinkbeast>
That literally is antigravity, it can hover there by itself
<XXCoder>
so yeah assuming infinite power but same size and power, it might be able to hover
<XXCoder>
it should be easily demoable in vacuum container so it'd be easy to prove
<XXCoder>
thats why I highly doubt it. they dont even have any real pictures of it
