oeuf: has she considered making ##sigfig on freenode, or something?
<oeuf>
raptop: pretty sure coordinating her work over irc would become silly quickly

should probably step away from the computer.
<oeuf>
raptop: noooooooo
<oeuf>
raptop: if you're away from the computer we can't pet you
<B787_300>
saying they died because of bad documentation is a bit of a stretch... but yes
<B787_300>
i bet there are other factors that contributed and that normally the new safety features wouldnt have affected the flight
<B787_300>
(oh and you are assuming that the pilots would RTFM and remember that line about the computer autopitching down in case of a stall)
<UmbralRaptop>
I'd hope that training etc would mean that they did (and reread at times?)
<B787_300>
UmbralRaptop: i cant find the link, but apparently the United (or one of the Big 3 US Carriers) the "retraining" between non MAX and MAX was an hour long course on a iPad
<UmbralRaptop>
whelp
<B787_300>
ah found it
<B787_300>
"APA spokesman Dennis Tajer said Monday that the detail on the MCAS system “is new information for us.” He said his training on moving from the old 737 NG model cockpit to the new 737 MAX consisted of little more than a one-hour session on an iPad. The airline doesn’t have simulators specific to the MAX model. Apart from that, the only MAX-specific training was practicing cross-wind landings, which are trickier in the MAX
<B787_300>
but will the rememebr it? also "“This is the first description you, as 737 pilots, have seen,” the message from the pilots association at American reads. “It is not in the American Airlines 737 Flight Manual … nor is there a description in the Boeing FCOM (Flight Crew Operations Manual). It will be soon.”"
<B787_300>
so it wasnt in the manuals
<UmbralRaptop>
aaaaa
<B787_300>
UmbralRaptop: dont worry flying is still incredibly safe
<UmbralRaptop>

bofh: have you looked into the rootn approximation and the doubledouble etc.
<bofh>
oeuf: yes, literally doing that now, heh. Really curious about that rootn approximation (and also why the optimal starting value is almost linear in order and why are there periodic oscillations etc).
<oeuf>
bofh: okay but before you mofh yourselves on one can you send me the one that's done
