oh can someone do the digital equivalent to that in the US... i would love to not have a 8k debt hanging over my head and it would probably help stimulate the economy

glares at the loan forgiveness program that rejected ~99.7% of applicants.
<B787_300>
UmbralRaptor: it would have done nect to nothing for me
<B787_300>
even though i have a public sector job...
<UmbralRaptor>
well, yes. it had that 120 month thing. but still…
<B787_300>
i make too much and at the forgiveness point i would have practically owed nothing
<B787_300>
and if i had done the other plan (govt matches what i pay but i am tied to a time of service) the amount of time was the same that i need to have a steady job and the chances of me getting that were slimmer than a snowballs chance in hell

Helping a different synapsid getting stuff running on on the cluster, and it increasingly feels like I'm a witch, or something.

arcane knowledge! \o/

<raptop>
It would not be this arcane if various people (myself included) had set things up properly >_<
<SnoopJeDi>

oh. stubborn committee member has decided he's "not able to" serve on my committee at all, now. well.
* raptop
meeps
* bofh
also meeps
<SnoopJeDi>
It's my own damned fault for dragging my feet, and a good excuse to be rid of his stubbornness and put [actual accelerator physicist who isn't my advisor] on the committee, but...yea.
<SnoopJeDi>
raptop, speaking of galaxies, I've been tickled by how closely my simulation results resemble spiralbois: https://jamesgerity.com/poincare.png
<raptop>
shiny

SnoopJeDi: alternatively, proof of the electric universe!

<SnoopJeDi>
I mean
<SnoopJeDi>
Vlasov dynamic works equally well out there as it does down here :)
<SnoopJeDi>
I still plan to sneak that Maxwell reference into the Vlasov flow section of my thesis.

isn't sure what happens when you invert a sphere
<SnoopJeDi>

bofh: welcome to the US? i mean it would be sane and logical to think that the person who was wrongfully arrested would get money from them, not have to pay, but i guess that is what the courts are for
<SnoopJeDi>
Only if you win
<SnoopJeDi>
Which makes court a biiiig gamble, since you're probably on the hook for the defendant's legal fees if you're ruled against?
<SnoopJeDi>
Not sure exactly how it works when the defendant is the state
<SnoopJeDi>
But it's common enough in civil cases :/
