ok so.... looks like the real problem with Procedural SRB gimbals is that the new gimbal system doesn't like the gimbal being the root.... there needs to be some mesh (or maybe just a plain transform) above the gimbal in the hierarchy

taking a quick look, it certainly expects it to be under the "model" transform

something else though... the PSRB gimbal was set so low, 0.25... it might have been a visual issue only. When I gave the gimbal a visual appearance, it DID move and 'gimbal' as it was supposed to. Only the bell was affected and 'locked' on one axis

got it fully working now and it doesn't have to have a mesh, it only needs to have another transform ABOVE it, an empty game object will do

Sooooo what do we think about maybe more realistic thrust calculation for PSRB when using RF? Might break existing craft, though maybe there's enough persisted in the save files for backwards compatibility
