So in the process of switching from XP to Linux, I went from a 32 to 64bit OS. Given that this bird has 4 GiB of RAM, and the video card another 256 MiB, does that mean I effectively gained 768 MiB?

I selected the PAE kernel at install time on this 32-bit Debian system, but I only seem to have 3.2 GB RAM available. Maybe the video chipset has the rest.
