<icefire> the smarter computers get the more terrified I become of not an AI intelligence killing us all but of simple mechanized labor starving us all

<Iskierka> ffs AI lab. "Demonstrate that your code works" I modified a tiny little subsection of a class you've not explained how it works or where I should even acquire test data for, nevermind what to display
<Iskierka> the constructor has a data input that's a different type to the data we're given in the basic main class so can't be passed
<egg> UmbralRaptor: :D
<egg> UmbralRaptor: see also that long video of a chinese astronaut thanking ESA for sending him food for his birthday :D

<Iskierka> welp that's brilliant. ppa-purge failed after an experimental ppa didn't work (it for some reason decided not to use forcible dependency resolution) so now it's stuck with half of it not working
<Iskierka> well, the system still boots, just not into the original stuff

<Iskierka> and now it won't boot to the point that wifi will turn on to give network. right.

<Iskierka> fuck it, its attempt to resolve the packages mostly wants to remove kubuntu-desktop, let's let it then just reinstall without the broken ppa
<GreeningGalaxy> I've discovered the laptop I need (and should've got instead of this one last year): Toughbook CF-53.
<GreeningGalaxy> High-res screen, i5, less rugged but more computer.
<GreeningGalaxy> costs about 500 bucks if you look hard enough.
<GreeningGalaxy> there's also the CF-52 with a much better C2D than the one I have now for less than 200
<Iskierka> well that was an adventure of an in-place OS repair that hopefully will actually work
<Iskierka> it's willing to at least install kubuntu-desktop now
<Iskierka> next adventure will be seeing how many settings survived
GreeningGalaxy has quit [Ping timeout: 204 seconds]
<Iskierka> we have a login screen!
<Iskierka> and looks like most of the screen layout survived. guess we'll have to deal with multimonitor borking until 18.04
Lyneira has quit [Quit: Konversation terminated!]
<Iskierka> although it was "fun" to create a while loop to extract all "Depends:" packages from the apt output into an envvar so I could suppress "but won't be installed" in favour of WHY it's not installing
