<_whitenotifier-81d9> [Principia] eggrobin opened pull request #3393: Bulletin C 64 - https://github.com/mockingbirdnest/Principia/pull/3393
<queqiao-> ⟨egg⟩ ⟪Quadrupole⟫ I think it's because you can get to […] ⮪ but in order to get to the moon to start with, you need enough energy to get to L1. Now it may be that you can use the moon to slow you down and that this has to involve going through L2 somehow, but this is not obvious to me.
<queqiao-> ⟨kraimoco⟩ Apparently principia starts out without orbital guidelines because real orbits aren't on rails
<queqiao-> ⟨SpaceMarine⟩ your telling me i cant take a choo choo train to the moon?
<queqiao-> ⟨kraimoco⟩ Apparently you can either reenable patched conics to see an estimate of the orbits or you can wait for the plantes to orbit so principia can graph that out
<queqiao-> ⟨kraimoco⟩ * planets and mooons
<queqiao-> ⟨kraimoco⟩ Can principia also do the same integration it does for your spacecrafts' flight plans for the sattelites' orbits
<queqiao-> ⟨kraimoco⟩ * orbits?
<queqiao-> ⟨kraimoco⟩ Apparently to deal with this you can either reenable patched conics to see an estimate of the orbits or you can wait for the planets and mooons to orbit so principia can graph that out
<queqiao-> ⟨kraimoco⟩ Apparently principia starts out without orbital guidelines from the tracking station because real orbits aren't on rails
<queqiao-> ⟨egg⟩ ⟪kraimoco⟫ Apparently to deal with this you can […] ⮪ if you are in stock, you don’t get histories before the beginning of the game, but you get predictions, which should serve the same purpose.
<queqiao-> ⟨kraimoco⟩ Can principia also do the same integration it does for your spacecrafts' flight plans for the satellites' orbits?
<queqiao-> ⟨egg⟩ (celestial body predictions match the prediction length of the active vessel, if I recall correctly.)
<queqiao-> ⟨leudaimon⟩ Also make sure to read above and choose the right reference frame
<queqiao-> ⟨kraimoco⟩ ⟪egg⟫ (celestial body predictions match the […] ⮪ Oh ok then, can you enable these predictions in the tracking station when you're not in any vessel?
<queqiao-> ⟨egg⟩ (and don’t touch the patched conics, they will lie to you and be in the wrong reference frame and are generally a bad habit)
<queqiao-> ⟨egg⟩ ⟪kraimoco⟫ Oh ok then, can you enable these […] ⮪ I don’t think that’s an option (not that it is fundamentally difficult, just that nobody ever asked for it).
<queqiao-> ⟨egg⟩ It could be useful to predict the past in stock, so you get histories like in RSS (where you get things since 1950). Predicting the past is a bit messy from a logical standpoint though.
<queqiao-> ⟨kraimoco⟩ ⟪egg⟫ It could be useful to predict the past […] ⮪ Yeah, predicting the past and then needing to alter the present based on the past does sound awkward.
<queqiao-> ⟨kraimoco⟩ * keep the present consistent with
<queqiao-> ⟨kraimoco⟩ ⟪egg⟫ I don’t think that’s an option (not […] ⮪ I'm somewhat surprised noone asked for this, do people just use the patched conics when they're looking at the tracking station?
<queqiao-> ⟨kraimoco⟩ (I'll just interject myself to say that I haven't downloaded KSP, I'm just curious)
<queqiao-> ⟨kraimoco⟩ Apparently to deal with this you can either reenable patched conics to see an estimate of the orbits or you can wait for the planets and moons to orbit so principia can graph that out
<queqiao-> ⟨kraimoco⟩ (I'll just interject myself to say that I haven't downloaded KSP, I'm just curious, maybe people almost never look at the tracking station)
<queqiao-> ⟨kraimoco⟩ (I'll just interject myself to say that I haven't downloaded KSP, I'm just curious, maybe people almost never look at the tracking station idk)
<queqiao-> ⟨egg⟩ ⟪kraimoco⟫ I'm somewhat surprised noone asked for […] ⮪ people just don’t look at the tracking station with no vessels, I think.
<queqiao-> ⟨egg⟩ You should never use patched conics, the point of that option is just to see how wrong stock is
<queqiao-> ⟨Falcon⟩ Any clue perhaps why i cant target a celestial body in a simulation but can when im in an actual flight?
<queqiao-> ⟨leudaimon⟩ (assuming you're playing career) did you have your Tracking station and Mission control already upgraded when doing the sim?
<queqiao-> ⟨Falcon⟩ yes
<queqiao-> ⟨lpg⟩ usually when I think that button is missing it's because I forgot it only shows up in map view
<queqiao-> ⟨leudaimon⟩ that's very true
<queqiao-> ⟨Falcon⟩ It showed up on the map when i went to do the mission, however just looking at my tracking station, it seems to have reverted? itself, i had it upgrading to lvl 2, it completed about 10 days before my flight, and seems to have existed when i initially brought it out to the pad, but reverting back to the VAB brought its level down again to lvl 1?
<queqiao-> ⟨Falcon⟩ (so not a principia issue it seems)
