I came down too fast for the Science Junior lab below the capsule. Tilting slowed down enough.
<darsie>
The idea was to land upside down, but couldn't.

Goliath National Products has assigned you to test the Turbo Jet Engine at an altitude of 23,345 meters over Eve's oceans. Kmath fails to parse your outcome.
<Althego>
the ship exploded to so many pieces, it doesnt even become an outcome
<umaxtu>
has anyone else run into an issue where the chutes don't deploy?
<umaxtu>
in ksp2
<darsie>
umaxtu: Yeah. I think it was because I was too fast.
<umaxtu>
hmm. it was just a capsule and heat shield. maybe they are trying to force people to actually use drogues?

You try to reach escape velocity by accumulating rounding errors in the physics simulation. TheKosmonaut deletes your recently added ;outcome due to your bad grammar.

I wonder if it is possible to land on Gilly by just getting the orbit right. Gilly rotates with around 5 m/s and orbital speeds are very low
<Mat2ch>
How do you calculate an orbital speed for an object in KSP?
<Mat2ch>
Most formulas I'm finding use G, but KSP-G is different
<SporkWitch>
no, it's just higher (1G) than it should be for its size.
Deddly has quit [Read error: Network is unreachable]
<SporkWitch>
it's still 9.8m/s² so far as I understand.
<Mat2ch>
not g, but G, the gravitational constant
<umbralraptop>
g as in Kerbin's surface is 9.81 m/s^2, g0 as in Isp -> Ve is 9.80665 m/s^2, and unless it got changed somewhere in 1.x G is 6.674e-11 N*m^2/kg^2
<SporkWitch>
ah, that i don't know if it differs
<umbralraptop>
Anyway, you can find GM for various objects in map mode/the tracking station, so it should be easy enough to check
<SporkWitch>
umbralraptop: if that's the value then it alligns with the RL value, so no difference
<sandbox>
hmm, they weren't kidding about the huge amount of youtube commenters having 4 numbers at the end of their name
<umbralraptop>
Anyway, E = v^2/2-GM/r = -GM/2a is absurdly useful
<SporkWitch>
pretty common of anyone that created accounts in the early days, but not the earliest. people didn't come up with very original stuff and just stuck their birth year after, since that's what most stuff suggested automatically when something was already taken
<Mat2ch>
I should think about this tomorrow, when I'm fully awake and not in my current state. :D
