<Mike`> soundnfury, so you fly all your rockets manually, or do you use kos/krpc?

<soundnfury> Mike`: manually, with RTFC steering and konrad giving me a helpful wall of numbers
<soundnfury> (konrad is a telemachus frontend that does lots of orbital-mechanics calculations for e.g. burn planning)
<soundnfury> just now I used it to send an unguided kick stage to within 12,800km of the Moon. Now launching another to try and get even closer :-)
<Mike`> RTFC?
<soundnfury> RemoteTech Flight Computer
<Mike`> ah okay
<soundnfury> during ascent I do the pitch kick by keying in (guessed) numbers
<soundnfury> then let it hold srf+ until I get out of the atmo
<Mike`> yeah that works i suppose
<Mike`> i didnt have the best experiences with RTs PID though
<Mike`> so i always let MJ steer, even if i schedule burns with RTFC :)
<soundnfury> well, once I'm in orbit, I steer by hotas + SAS ;)
<Mike`> i always flew my rockets manually/with sas in stock, but lamonts work with PEG is just too good not to use for me now :D with autostaging, it can fly your rocket all the way to orbit without any input. Especially helpful when you're watching movies or doing other stuff during ascents ;)
<soundnfury> it's just in atmo that I use the FC, as it's slightly more precise

<Mike`> which i do, especially cause my game's running so slow, solid yellow clock kinda all the time now :|
<soundnfury> There we go, 870km perilune obtained with an unguided kick stage firing from parking orbit, using konrad to plan the burn ^_^
<soundnfury> (done by deliberately aiming 10,000km short to compensate for the residual error I got last time ;)
<Mike`> hehehe
<soundnfury> sure, konrad guidance isn't automatic, you have to use your noggin a bit. But it's more _fun_ that way...

<Starwaster> are there any ISRU processes by which I might obtain nitrogen from an asteroid? (there are none in Real ISRU so I'm wondering if there is anything I could realistically add... nothing comes to mind unfortunately)
<Bornholio> have not seen the details of this "revolutionary" process
<Bornholio> i'me guessing any processes are going to be found in the waste water/potable water industry
<soundnfury> I think for the most part nitrogen is a bit difficult to come by
<soundnfury> Earth got it all :S
ProjectThoth has quit [Ping timeout: 183 seconds]
<Starwaster> yeah I dunno that I can realistically justify it...
<soundnfury> (in the Mars trilogy it's implied that nitrate rocks are rare enough to be treated like we treat metal ores)
<Starwaster> sucks... everything else I need could probably be obtained
<soundnfury> if you're willing to go to the outer solar system you can find some ;)
