"The bibtex program, developed in 1985 in conjunction with the database structure, is tried and true; its main disadvantage is the difficulty of creating custom bibliography styles, although tools exist to help you do so (I discuss them near the bottom of this page). The BibLaTeX system, whose development started in 2006, is potentially more powerful, but I have not been able to get it working properly in any of my LaTeX systems. So I limit

R_ds when "on" is about 10 Ohm, when "off" it is 16 MOhm - too little?
<APlayer>
Alright, got the problem. I /did/ mix up source and drain on the MOSFET
<Ellied>
once again, most semiconductors are not ohmic, so measuring their resistance will give you a misleading idea
<Ellied>
MOSFETs are weird because they actually *are* ohmic in certain conditions while switched on
<Ellied>
while off, they're not; they just have some small leakage current, so more than likely your meter is putting like 3 volts across it, getting 18 nanoamps, and assuming that means 16 MΩ
<Ellied>
if you put, say, 50 volts across it, you would *still* get about 18 nA, because it's in the current-limiting region and current is independent of voltage
<Ellied>
so the short answer is yes, 16 Mohm is a fine meter reading to get with it off, but remember not to take that literally all the time.

… is it my imagination, or is Landau really sarcastic?
<UmbralRaptor>
"It should be emphasised that, even if we could integrate these equations in a general form, it would be completely impossible to substitute in the general solution the initial conditions for the velocities and co-ordinates of the particles, if only because of the amount of time and paper that would be needed."
<UmbralRaptor>
"Turning now to the distinctive features of quantum statistics, we may note first of all that the purely mechanical approach to the problem of determining the behaviour of a macroscopic body in quantum mechanics is of course just as hopeless as in classical mechanics."

ferram4: How normal is a rather steep increase in Cd after Mach 8?
<APlayer>
(Stock KSP aerodynamics)
<APlayer>
Uh, nevermind that, looks like that's some issue with KSP high altitude aerodynamics. Cd started wildly growing high up in the atmosphere, and continued doing so even as the engines cut off and the Mach number started decreasing. Cd * S peaked at 600 or so m², while transonic peak was 93.6 m²
<APlayer>
Peaked at 600 m² and fell to 0 because I actually left the atmosphere
<APlayer>
Would have grown larger otherwise
* e_14159

<e_14159>
I cut one of the experiments down from 5h/epoch to 50min/epoch.
<ferram4>
APlayer, it shouldn't grow without bound, but there should be somewhat higher numbers in the upper atmosphere as a result of it acting less like a fluid and more like a bunch of random molecules
<APlayer>
"Somewhat higher"?
<APlayer>
Is a factor of 2 still normal? Because I dropped the data that had such a difference to what I'd call "normal", considering it useless

<Ellied>
god, this is driving me mad. the sysfs interface will let anything *except a Rust program* write the direction of a GPIO pin. whenever Rust tries, it just gets an invalid argument error as though it had tried to put in gibberish.
<Ellied>
I even opened the gpio/direction file, read back the bytes, and then wrote them verbatim, and it *still won't let me*
