raptop changed the topic of #principia to: READ THE FAQ: http://goo.gl/gMZF9H; The current version is Fréchet. We currently target 1.5.1, 1.6.1, and 1.7.x. <scott_manley> anyone that doubts the wisdom of retrograde bop needs to get the hell out | https://xkcd.com/323/ | <egg> calculating the influence of lamont on Pluto is a bit silly… | <egg> also 4e16 m * 2^-52 is uncomfortably large

RurouniDonut. — Man, going interplanetary with srbs is hard
<UmbralRaptor>
Precision, or ΔV?
<discord->
RurouniDonut. — Precision
<discord->
RurouniDonut. — I have to modify the is rocket before it rolls out to have less deltav actually
<UmbralRaptor>
hah
<discord->
RurouniDonut. — Turns out I'll have more deltav for my upper stage then I thought I would when I get into orbit
<discord->
RurouniDonut. — I plan on burning all of the fuel in the transfer stage completely and then just have the srb go off right after
<discord->
RurouniDonut. — How does Principia handle multi stage burns in the flight plan?
* UmbralRaptor
wants to say that it knows about staging
<discord->
egg. — nah it does not know about staging
<discord->
egg. — it does not know about inactive engines either
<discord->
RurouniDonut. — So, I guess for a multi stage burn you have to wing it then?
<UmbralRaptor>
Unless you're a fungi from Yuggoth, using wings in space is not recommended

Falcon. — Failed to load assembly C:\Users\bluef\Desktop\KSP RSS 1.7.3\GameData\Principia\x64\serialization.dll:

Falcon. — System.BadImageFormatException: Format of the executable (.exe) or library (.dll) is invalid.
<discord->
Falcon. — What might this mean above?
<discord->
Falcon. — From reading a little bit on bad image formats, it basically means that the path isnt correct for the utility to find its place
<discord->
Sir Mortimer. — We rename our KSP version specific dll files to kbin and load the correct binary for whichever version we detect at runtime
<discord->
egg. — @hotchilliAS not sure about window planning (besides the fact that the windows are the same as they are in real life), maybe others here have some advice; in order to plan the actual manoeuvres, use the reference frame centred on the target planet which fixes the direction of the sun (same principle as the frame used for a rendez-vous)

hotchilliAS. — Alright, thanks. I'll have a play about with it
<discord->
egg. — @Butcher, @lpg, @Damien: Could you try playing with RO+Principia for a while on a save where you *don't* delete vessels, so we can have data on the kind of vessel histories that we accumulate (and so we can try to compress them in smart ways)
<discord->
Damien. — I'm PCless at the moment. Sorry
<discord->
Damien. — What about someone with a fleshed out RO adding principia and timewarping for a while?
<discord->
Damien. — What about someone with a fleshed out RO install adding principia and timewarping for a while? (edited)
<discord->
Damien. — Wouldn't be ideal but would be useful for those with lots of crafts in play

<discord->
Butcher. — @egg I guess, though the massive history gets annoying.
<discord->
Butcher. — I have a vessel up at the moment that's been running for a couple of years or so, in a boring orbit.
<discord->
Falcon. — do you want their PCs to explode egg?
<discord->
Falcon. — xD
<discord->
egg. — @Butcher well the annoying history is the point, we want to see how we can do things so they don't get big
<discord->
Falcon. — if its just for an experiment alright, but 30+ vessels in space, debris or active satellites definitely hits the performance
<discord->
Butcher. — Time to install VS on this computer.
<discord->
Butcher. — Glad I have fast internet.
<discord->
egg. — @Falcon we're not looking at the warp performance here, just savefile size
<discord->
egg. — @Butcher so I guess if timewarp gets too slow feel free to destroy some vessels, just don't delete them for the sole purpose of keeping the save smol
<discord->
lpg. — if a choice needs to be made, any particular "kinds" of vessels that would be most worth preserving?
<discord->
Damien. — I'm guessing satellites in repeating orbits are the main problem from previous discussions
<discord->
Damien. — LEO sats etc
<discord->
Sir Mortimer. — if it's a compression thing, then you want to delete satellites that have very noodly histories. orbiters, interplanetary transits not so much.
<discord->
Butcher. — Yes, I have a few sats in boring LEO.
<discord->
Butcher. — I don't need 1000 days of history there.
<discord->
Falcon. — i know you arent @egg i was just commenting that it was going to "kill" their PCs by attempting to do that
<discord->
Falcon. — :p
<discord->
Damien. — That's the idea
<discord->
egg. — @Sir Mortimer well, the thing is the noodly ones are fairly regular orbits
<discord->
egg. — so we might be able to store them in a more compact form (Fourier transforming them maybe?)
<discord->
egg. — and yeah, the stuff that's not periodic is likely not the main problem
