and yeah back then when he wrote KS his code wasn't too good. take a look at sr.ht now and it's much better than it was, and sr.ht is also using flask

the problem is that we never enforced a code style and when we tried to make a new frontend it just became spaghetti code

The problem with frontend is that making it using templates (as opposed to client+API architecture) is only good when you're making more-or-less display only site. Something with dynamic content, but without much or any interactions.

As soon as you need the user to do something, it soon becomes harder and harder to maintain the complex relations between the server-side templates and the client-site "scripts" that make things interactive.
