<VITAS[m]>
My standpoint is that i have to either tollerate a mod on SD or ive to remove it.
<VITAS[m]>
giving a mod less options then others isnt fair
<VITAS[m]>
i think of flag and texture mods not as real mods (for me a mod has to contain code). but i decided to tollerate gfx mods (textures,flags,etc) because its strictly still modifying the game and SD should thus offer hosting for them.
<VITAS[m]>
the topic of advertising in mods (other games (it is another game is it?)) is another problem.
<VITAS[m]>
my feeling is that advrtising is a problem once it can be seen as intended product placement.
<VITAS[m]>
in essence: i can understand HebaruSan for not beeing happy with posting flags for games as mod on ckan but i dont see something i cant see a breach of the guidlines above.
<VITAS[m]>
only possibility is to ask the author politly to not bring us in this position where in by not enabling options.
<VITAS[m]>
btw another rule for mods are german law because the server is currently based there and im too.
<VITAS[m]>
so no swastikas and 3rd reich insignia/glorification.
<VITAS[m]>
(i know its hard with the whole rocket and van braun thing)
<VITAS[m]>
btw i think weve written down some guidlines for mod removal and copyright claim procedures in the past. if not $someone could put that into the github wiki and maybe even on the site. so SD users as well as admins can hold me/us by it.
<VITAS[m]>
i always want to encurage people to solve their differences by themselves and with civilized dialogs and not by asking admins to use the hammer of removal
<VITAS[m]>
so everyone has to prove he has tried resolving his problem by communication first before i eaven considder removing mods or users.
<VITAS[m]>
(i dont want to be the big stick in a proxy war)
<VITAS[m]>
any thoughts by you guys?
<VITAS[m]>
btw i want to find out if KSP2 &mods will use steam workshop or alike or if SD will be of use (and have a future).

<AllisTauri[m]>
we'll have to wait for the first release to find out about this; but I doubt KSP 1 will cease to exist in one night after the sequel comes about. We'll always have people who would claim the new one is trash and all wrong, and how they would continue with KSP1 no matter what. And there will be no less than 6 months transit period before major mods will begin any kind of conversion.
<AllisTauri[m]>
What I'm trying to say is that SD has still a lot of real-estate in time domain with or without KSP2.

As for flags&textures, imo it's a simplest matter of personal taste and decision. SD is not a state to have legislature; you as admin have a right to kick out anyone from your private property if you don't want them for any reason. After all, you have "featured mods" that are the quintessence of subjectivity, and nobody complains.
<AllisTauri[m]>
The only thing we should have is consistency; if you don't want to forbid flags, we should remove the disclaimer that states that we don't allow them.
<AllisTauri[m]>
And ofcourse, if we have admins other than you, we should have guidelines for them and for the modders.
<AllisTauri[m]>
Changing the subject:
<AllisTauri[m]>
I would like to eliminate the alembic migration history for SD database.

VITAS, ksp2 will probably support workshop but you'll still be able to use 3rd party sites
<RockyTV>
best case scenario it'll work like skyrim
<RockyTV>
worst case scenario is take2 locking down mods to workshop/curseforge

Ough, Curseforge only would be horrible

Hi theJesuit, I didn't realize till looking at your profile that you're an actual priest! Neat , what's that llike:)
<HebaruSan[m]>
As for password changes, I think there's a probem with emails currently, and only VITAS can fix it. He's in an EU time zone.
<Webchat040>
it has its highs and lows. It helps if you like people.

Ah thanks.
