BE-4? *sigh* I *JUST* got it...
BasharMilesTeg_ is now known as BasharMilesTeg

doesn't seem like it weighs much at all.... wtf?
<Bornholio>
2.5m of nothing
<Starwaster>
it's displacing hardly any water at all...
<Starwaster>
I saw weight of 1,900 kg given for it which is pretty light but looking at that photo I don't think it weighs even that much...
<Bornholio>
for the whole thing?
<Bornholio>
or half (eddy)

<Starwaster>
eh... good question and I do not remember the answer
<Starwaster>
that is a VERY good fricken question
<Bornholio>
okay sanity check on that what is the height and diamter of those fairings
xShadowx has quit [Ping timeout: 190 seconds]
<Starwaster>
think it's like 5m diameter...? 17m tall?
<Starwaster>
ok 13.9m tall
soundnfury has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<Starwaster>
5.2m wide
<Bornholio>
so then i'd estimate (fast math) that half height by 1m by 25cm but its a part circle so half again
<Bornholio>
so my guess comes to 750kg
<Starwaster>
wiki says 13 tall and gives 1900 for the whole thing with no citations
<Starwaster>
are you figuring for both carbon fiber and aluminum under?
<Bornholio>
no just displaced water
<Starwaster>
displaced salt water

Wow, carbon fiber is a better insulator than I thought... (at least in epoxy and across the thickness)
<Starwaster>
Having some good results with using utilization to emulate super chilled propellants (SpaceX style...)
<Bornholio>
what % do you need?

<Starwaster>
for kerosene I gave it 1.04938272, methane = 1.12 and LOX = 1.09954434
<Starwaster>
greater densities at lower temperatures are possible but there were reasons why it would be unlikely to go much lower than those values... I forget why
<Starwaster>
gave one half at 950 kg for the early versions
<Starwaster>
current version has unknown mass savings speculated at -100 kg which puts it within reach of your 750 kg estimate. (you didn't say if you factored in salt water as opposed to plain water)
