labeled a la heavy water one might assume
<rqou>
oh, that kind of labeling
<rqou>
you people are weird :P
<SnoopJeDi>
oh that's...probably not what the adjective is there for, but that's the fun of !wpn
<SnoopJeDi>
!wpn rqou, soundnfury

!wpn SnoopJeDi

gives SnoopJeDi a clopen IoT dildo with hard-coded credentials with an ideal attachment
<soundnfury>
O_o
<soundnfury>
you know, the worst part of that is the "IoT" :|
<soundnfury>
also, that's at least the second time Qboid has hard-coded the credentials of an IoT device. Clever bot.
<SnoopJeDi>
an ideal attachment actually lol

20:48 < thebananaking> FB post from loonies worried that EMF from smart energy meters would give them cancer, everyone mocking them for it
<SnoopJeDi>
20:49 < thebananaking> I pointed out that just because it hasn't given people cancer in the past, you can't assume it won't do so in the future
<SnoopJeDi>
20:49 < thebananaking> it's called the Problem of Induction
<UmbralRaptor>
Lenz be Faraday about this, and not jump to any conclusions.
<SnoopJeDi>
When we rush to conclusions, everyone gets Hertz
<SnoopJeDi>
What, was that joke a little low-rentz?
<UmbralRaptor>
Maybe. But Oersted of complaining, I really need to think of more relevant terms.
<SnoopJeDi>
Oh come on, you Cannae hardly read on the subject without coming across them.

<SnoopJeDi>
rqou, can you clarify what you mean by "algebra?" :P
<rqou>
i was thinking abstract algebra e.g. groups/rings/fields/etc.
<SnoopJeDi>
I would say that stuff is inherently analytical, personally
<SnoopJeDi>
(so pretty much the exact opposite of the proffered rule)
APlayer has quit [Ping timeout: 383 seconds]
<rqou>
hmm, i don't know about "inherently"
<rqou>
e.g. i have a "good enough for a CS major" intuition about groups/fields/etc. but if you ask me to e.g. prove that a sequence converges, i just have no clue what to do
<SnoopJeDi>
Pragmatically speaking, there's always gonna be some stuff that is left as a black box. E.g. if you can prove such-and-such "fundamental" thing, you might have something else underlying it (e.g. set theory)
<SnoopJeDi>
but mathematical intuition certainly lies at an angle to analysis, you can have one without the other (although skill in one frequently bleeds into the other)

SnoopJeDi: for reasons of historical accident, "analysis" usually refers to derivatives and limits and δs and εs, which I think is what rqou meant
* soundnfury
gives SnoopJeDi an ε < 0
<SnoopJeDi>
yes this is what I took it to mean as well
<SnoopJeDi>
in the sense it's used in course titles for real/topological analysis etc
<rqou>
yup, right now i'm trying to struggle through problem sets about Lipschitz continuity and i just suck at it
<rqou>
who here is good at calculus? is there a closed-form solution to d(x1)/dt=-x1+x1x2, d(x2)/dt=-x2?

also, does the PAM count as part of Cassini? That's probably out there somewhere in heliocentric orbit now
