<SilverFox>
this I think is the first time someone used a homemade rocket they built to fly them into space
<SilverFox>
it's also steam-powered apparently
<SilverFox>
water is really heavy, dunno how he's accomplishing such extended amounts of high thrust

SilverFox: i think this kind of app needs to have a trial, so you can show the user what it does, how it works, and then they can decide if they're happy with it
<Greys>
it's not like you're giving them the app to use for free and then charging for some features; the app is useless at half or quarter resolution, smartphones don't have high megapixel cameras they have appropriate megapixel cameras; on my camera half resolution is six megapixels
<Greys>
so the app does not produce functional results unless you pay to unlock full resolution, but you can see if it even does what you want before involving money
<Greys>
so like, there's two dominant modes of panorama, rotation, and slide, and they have very different uses; what I wanted to do but couldn't, was take a slide panorama of a full size rack of servers to capture model numbers, rack positions, and labels, this would be poorly served by a rotational panorama
<Greys>
there's also varying quality of stitching which is a big deal
<lpg>
SilverFox: I don't think he made it anywhere near space
<Greys>
we should encourage flat earthers to build their own rocket ships to go test their theories
<lpg>
the FAA needs to give them permits though
<lpg>
maybe give them a dedicated place in the mojave to do it in
<Greys>
hmmm
<Greys>
normally you'd want to launch from a lower latitude; but I guess flat earthers don't believe in that
<Greys>
what if we built a platform on the great pacific gyre and had some kind of donation based free flights if you can pass a lie detector test that you actually believe the earth is flat
<Greys>
"For only thirty cents a day you can provide a flearther with their life's dream, a chance to destroy themselves proving that the earth isn't round"
<lpg>
dunno, I think this guy is just going to crash into the ground again, and probably die this time
<TheKosmonaut>
lpg: a nascar dude has his own rocket, he’s a FE nut
<lpg>
he launched himself before and had to be pulled from the wreckage and was paralyzed for like a year
<TheKosmonaut>
Lol
<TheKosmonaut>
Because the gubment tried to kill him obv
<lpg>
so now he's definitely going to die

so, the imac pro that's set to go on sale next month is supposed to have an iphone processor in it; in addition to the like 400 core x86 processor; people are speculating that this will be used like the PS4's ARM CPU for low power operation and downtime maintenance
<Greys>
but considering it's for pros, and apple pros tend to make iphone apps, why wouldn't they just build an iphone into the computer that gets accessed via software so they can "emulate" the iphone hardware on live hardware
<Greys>
further than that; why are we as a civilization not developing dual platform hybrid OS for split mode performance gains
<Greys>
my computer is decent, and it takes 70~90 watts at idle with the screens on; but half of the time I'm not there, the software isn't doing anything, so why
<Greys>
make the OS recognize when software isn't doing anything and put it to sleep, when the CPU is only running the OS put it to sleep, and run the OS or compatible binaries on the ARM chip; dropping the idle consumption to like, USB compatible wattages
<Greys>
being able to broadly make these kinds of demands on software makers is half of teh point of windows having an app store; they could just say that in a year every app that doesn't support an API for shifting to low power mode will be removed; and if the app store isn't total crap they do distribution time compiling and can make sure there are hybrid mode binaries available; iOS appstore does this kind of distribution because they have too many slightly incompati

SilverFox, I just want you to know that I had never heard of the ketosis diet before you assumed I was doing and said it's horrible for you; and since then I'm frequently hearing about how great it is
<Greys>
what is it, like, not eating fats?
<SilverFox>
iirc it was eating only fats
<Greys>
that sounds fucking dumb
<SilverFox>
but our body doesnt like using fats for energy, because of the process used to convert fat to sugar, which creates byproducts that build up in the liver
<SilverFox>
which is why I said it wasn't that great
<Greys>
my current plan is to as much as possible not eat dense carbs
<Greys>
so no bread, limited pasta
<SilverFox>
Right
<Greys>
no everlasting gobstoppers
<SilverFox>
I think that's just simple sugar but okay
<Greys>
sugar is a carb
<SilverFox>
thanks tips
<Greys>
there's no denser carb than pure sugar
<SilverFox>
back on track
<SilverFox>
what is it you want to accomplish?
<Greys>
well, except that thing the humans invaded pandora for in Avatar
<SilverFox>
unobtainium
<Greys>
that material had every property
<SilverFox>
back on track greys, whatchu wanna do
<Greys>
?
<SilverFox>
what goal are you trying to accomplish
<Greys>
I'm working on the litter turbine
<Greys>
I've done all of the easy work and about a quarter of the less easy work, so now all that's left is the really laborious work
<SilverFox>
okay bye
<Greys>
what?

so's right now I have twelve 3 inch threaded rods, I've filed the ends of four of them, I need to put lock nuts on all of them, cut 6 more, do all those things to those, find the battery charger, find the silicone, and install them into the barrel
<Greys>
then, I have to figure out how to spray plastidip on them, in the barrel
<Greys>
without dying
<Greys>
I've had my glasses off because some of this work would probably damage them; I don't understand how I lived without glasses for three decades
