<Truga> G-Mobile technically?
<Truga> I'd say cluster
<G-Mobile> Whats the difference

<SilverFox> G-Mobile, I'd say things like load balancing and uhhh if it's in a single machine or something. Like a cloud makes me think of the devices being anywhere, whether spread out around the building or in different buildings or countries entirely, but a cluster makes me think of a local thing

<SilverFox> also, cloud makes me think of an online thing, whereas a cluster can be an offline thing
<Greys> ;wa 60k$ to chf
<kmath> Greys: convert $60000 (US dollars) to Swiss francs: CHF59510 (Swiss francs)
<Greys> mmmkay
<Greys> so, nimbatus added rovers as a stretch goal, it's about 15k$ short of that but they're already 200% funded; but they're listing all of their goals in USD, and the project is being run in CHF
<SilverFox> Greys, did you back it?
<Greys> nah, I just got hired for real so now I'm paying taxes
<Greys> I shared it with a bunch of people
<SilverFox> nice
<SilverFox> Im thinking of backing it
<Greys> it's funded, so unless there's a stretch goal you want, I recommend against it
<SilverFox> can you link the kickstarter again?
<SilverFox> I wanna see the goals that tehy have
<Greys> massively overfunded kickstarters are thee most likely to flop
<Greys> ~g nimbatus
<FoxBot9000> Greys: https://www.nimbatus.ch/
<SilverFox> iirc undertale was massively overfunded
<SilverFox> yooka laylee was as well
<SilverFox> and this other one I backed, some castlevania thing
<SilverFox> blood night ritual or some shit
<Greys> and so was that point and click adventure
<Greys> and mighty number 9
<Greys> and the potato salad....
<Greys> did that party actually happen?
<SilverFox> you know what wasn't kickstarted?
<SilverFox> No Man's Sky
<Greys> hmmmm
<Greys> I'm honestly skeptical about that... you sure it wasn't?
<SilverFox> that flopped harder than that gaming shit in the 80's
<SilverFox> Greys, honestly idk, but go check it out
<Greys> I think it was sony
<SilverFox> probably was
<SilverFox> it was shown in e3
<Greys> so was like fifteen dicks
<Greys> it's not that hard
<SilverFox> also, 4 of my 8 cores on my 1700 have started giving me weird temp readings
<SilverFox> like -5
<SilverFox> on air
<SilverFox> all the rest read like, 44
<Greys> that said, I can cite at least one positive review of NMS
<SilverFox> the only positive review*
<kmath> YouTube - Alone in Public - A "No Man's Sky" Review
<FoxBot9000> yt: Alone in Public - A "No Man's Sky" Review | Folding Ideas
<SilverFox> so terrain rovers are a neat stretch goal
<SilverFox> idk what I'd like to see in the game
<SilverFox> Greys, the stretch goals here are in USD, the pledge amounts are in CHF, and the total amount pledged is in CAD
<Greys> they're a neat goal but their proof of concept is really disconcerting
<SilverFox> what I saw is their inspirations for the game and KSP was one
<SilverFox> but the game is very similar to Simple Rockets
<SilverFox> drone sharing is also a neat goal
<Greys> they have a snippet video of a drone riding on hex-ball feet being pulled into the asteroit by green tractor beams
<Greys> at best this is a terrible hodge of a solution that will perform poorly
<Greys> they're baiscally using a circle of parts on an "axle" instead of developing wheel physics
<SilverFox> why is it so hard to find 4k tv's that aren't fucking massive?
<SilverFox> like, 32" is fine and dandy
GlassFragments has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<Greys> because smaller pixels are harder
<SilverFox> but there's 27" 4k monitors
<SilverFox> so like
<SilverFox> your argument is invalid
<Greys> the same thing happened with 1080, it comes into the market at the top in the largest most expensive TVs, and then goes to cheaper TVs in the same size classes before stepping down, because it's easier to cut margin than to make new panel SKUs
<Greys> monitors aren't TVs, in a lot of ways
<Greys> monitor margins are smaller, monitors have different pixel configurations, the surrounding hardware is much higher quality, the refresh rate is higher
<Greys> if you take a nice panel, and put it in a shitty product, you've got a really expensive shitty product
<SilverFox> are there any good 1440p tvs?
<SilverFox> main things im looking for in a tv are relatively low response times and just greater than 1080p
<Greys> TV response times are always going to be terrible
<SilverFox> right, but like, idk what this tv is, but it's probably more than 5ms
<Greys> many manufacturers even ignore the "game mode" that supposedly disables postprocessing to reduce response times, because people would complain about image quality
<Greys> you should expect upwads of 40ms
<Greys> possibly upwards of 120ms
<SilverFox> well, the 4k tvs i was looking at were 5ms
<SilverFox> 5ms and 8ms for this one
<Greys> they claim
<Greys> it won't be that
<SilverFox> dont care
<Greys> so, if you care about anything; there's basically fetish communities of people who want to get the best performance out of TVs, for varying definitions of best, they'll have like, legit benchmarks done with high speed cameras and shit; breakdowns of how the featureset of different inputs vary, how to recalibrate the color for best result, etc
<SilverFox> I just care about lower response times, and higher resolution than 1080p
<Greys> yea, they'll have that
<Greys> they'll have real world measurements instead of marketing flimflam
<SilverFox> but like, I also dont want to pay 1 bajillion dollars for it
<Greys> yea and?
<SilverFox> yeah
<Greys> and?
<SilverFox> yeah
<Greys> what about what I said makes you think it's a billionaires club
<Greys> it's a bunch of tech fetishists
<SilverFox> because current prices are like, a bajillion dollars
<SilverFox> is there a step between 1440p and 4k?
<Greys> if anybody is going to know where the good deals are, it's the fetishists
<Greys> not that comes to mind
<Greys> but 1440 isn't not normal for TVs
<Greys> is not*
<SilverFox> I can find some monitors in my size range
<Greys> this is some baaaad trip imagery https://youtu.be/X_tYrnv_o6A
<kmath> YouTube - Your Amazing Molecular Machines
<FoxBot9000> yt: Your Amazing Molecular Machines | Veritasium
<SilverFox> didnt I link that here?
<Greys> who knows man
<SilverFox> I also have a 1060, so I probs wont be doing any 4k gaming
<SilverFox> and for the same price as a 1440p monitor that's 32" I can get a 4k tv that's 40"
<Greys> sure, and if size is what you're concerned with then go with it; just understand what's being sacrificed to achieve that variation

fcbayerndm has joined #kspmodders
<SilverFox> G-Mobile, of course, since a 3D graph is a thing, it can be printed, so yes, it's possible. But should it be printed? no reason for it to be really
