egg changed the topic of #principia to: Logs: https://esper.irclog.whitequark.org/principia | <scott_manley> anyone that doubts the wisdom of retrograde bop needs to get the hell out | https://xkcd.com/323/ | <egg> calculating the influence of lamont on Pluto is a bit silly…

⟨razgriz16⟩ Snapping doesn't really make sense in the context of Principia, since the planner accounts for your acceleration, not just an instantaneous impulse

⟨Joshua Wood⟩ I’ve found the best way is to compare planned peri with predicted peri and fiddle with the time untill they are the same

⟨kaborl⟩ Hi everyone, I was making a highly elliptical orbit around Earth: Ap 100k km and Pe 200 km aprox.
<queqiao->
After that, I set a maneuver in the Flight Planner exactly (~5s error) of when the Ap was predicted to be.
<queqiao->
However, after coasting to it then I realised it was off considerably like dozens of minutes.
<queqiao->
I understand that orbits change due to orbit fluctuations. However I also understood that Principia's predicted orbits were accurate (e.g. Ap will be where predicted once I get there).
<queqiao->
⟨iozos1⟩ Hi everyone, I have a problem with Principia, since 3-4 weeks, it seems that principia does not work as intended and i don't know why, maybe a conflict with an other mod.
<queqiao->
The Nav ball is not the one from principia but the vanilla one, yhe flight plan does not work but the change of altitude over time works.
<queqiao->
I would like to know if someone experienced this already and if a solution exist ? I tried to uninstal and instal principi many time but nothing happen.

"Starting with Klein, users have reported crashes very early in the game, when loading a save or entering the tracking station. This seems to be related to an incompatibility between old versions of the Visual C++ redistributable and our compiler (Visual Studio 17.10.5). You can tell that you are running into this problem because (1) the game crashes without a FATAL file and (2) the stack in the error.log and Player.log files starts with a line...
<queqiao->
... similar to: 0x00007FFC64473020 (MSVCP140) Thrd_yield (the actual address may differ). If you run into this, please upgrade to the latest version of the Visual C++ redistributable."
<queqiao->
I can confirm that such issues exist, I made a new install with Principia Kronecker and it refused to load, stopping shortly before main menu. So the issue is not exactly as described above. But updating the VC++ redistributable solved my issue, the game loads. So maybe these weird issues can be fixed in the same way as well?
<queqiao->
⟨iozos1⟩ I will try to update and let you know, thanks
<queqiao->
⟨egg⟩ Well, what this user is reporting is not a crash, it is Principia not doing its thing. I am guessing something is throwing an exception during rendering, but we would need logs to know.
<queqiao->
⟨test_account9540⟩ I also didn't have a crash. The loading process never completed, I saw earth and kerbals but no main menu.
<queqiao->
⟨egg⟩ Oh, exciting.
<queqiao->
⟨iozos1⟩ Yes no crash at all, just not working
<queqiao->
⟨egg⟩ (logs?)
<queqiao->
⟨test_account9540⟩ sadly no logs here and I can't reproduce it because the new VC++ redistributable fixed things...
<queqiao->
⟨egg⟩ Yes. Filling the chat with logs is not a good idea.
<queqiao->
⟨egg⟩ (And if KSP.log is 149 Mb, I am guessing it is spamming an exception every frame, which would explain why nothing works, so it is going to be the one we want to look at.)
<queqiao->
⟨sichelgaita⟩ So that means that I'll need to handle "NullReferenceException" at the place where we evaluate the height, and say something about RSS-Reborn.
<queqiao->
⟨sichelgaita⟩ The gift that keeps giving...
<queqiao->
⟨iozos1⟩ Yes i see, well i will try to figure out, thank you very much for your help in any case
<queqiao->
⟨profrich.⟩ My nav ball has gone back to stock and I see the vanilla map screen since latest RO update... I've tried reinstalling principia but no joy. Any ideas what's going on?
<queqiao->
⟨test_account9540⟩ RSS Reborn?
<queqiao->
⟨kaborl⟩ Thanks for the reply! After troubleshooting more, I realized that I was using as a reference Mechjeb time to Ap window instead of the Predicted time to Ap in the Map mode. I realized that Mechjeb's value was changing rapidly while the Predicted value by Principia was static.
<queqiao->
Bottom line, I can't trust Mechjeb Ap/Pe data for the Predicted Ap/Pe.
<queqiao->
⟨profrich.⟩ I don't use it.
<queqiao->
⟨test_account9540⟩ Then there is some other bug than the one discussed before! (which was caused by RSS reborn)
