egg changed the topic of #principia to: Logs: https://esper.irclog.whitequark.org/principia | <scott_manley> anyone that doubts the wisdom of retrograde bop needs to get the hell out | https://xkcd.com/323/ | <egg> calculating the influence of lamont on Pluto is a bit silly…

<queqiao-> ⟨delta___v⟩ why can't it detect the engine
<queqiao-> ⟨delta___v⟩ why can't it detect the engine?
<queqiao-> ⟨delta___v⟩ even after staging and activating
<queqiao-> ⟨delta___v⟩ +it (at 0 throttle)
<queqiao-> ⟨test_account9540⟩ which engine is that 🤔
<queqiao-> ⟨delta___v⟩ Orm
<queqiao-> ⟨delta___v⟩ it was working before idk why its not anymore
<queqiao-> ⟨test_account9540⟩ Just an engine, nothing special about it 😕
<queqiao-> ⟨delta___v⟩ what does that message mean
<queqiao-> ⟨delta___v⟩ no active engines
<queqiao-> ⟨test_account9540⟩ principia can't find any active engines in the current stage
<queqiao-> ⟨delta___v⟩ the burn time is calculated by the rcs?
<queqiao-> ⟨delta___v⟩ * based on
<queqiao-> ⟨test_account9540⟩ can it be that orm has spent all ignitions somehow?
<queqiao-> ⟨test_account9540⟩ (not sure what happens in this case, but no other ideas atm)
<queqiao-> ⟨delta___v⟩ it still has 2 ignitions remaining
<queqiao-> ⟨egg⟩ Well, is it active?
<queqiao-> ⟨egg⟩ That is, if you push the throttle, does it ignite and burn with no other user inputs?
<queqiao-> ⟨delta___v⟩ yes
<queqiao-> ⟨egg⟩ Is it mounted backward with respect to the controlling part?
<queqiao-> ⟨egg⟩ (can you show us the spacecraft and the PAW of the engine maybe?)
<queqiao-> ⟨delta___v⟩ nvm I had to click the "active engines" button
<queqiao-> ⟨delta___v⟩ how do I make kOS detect this maneuver? it says no maneuver nodes present
<queqiao-> ⟨test_account9540⟩ select "Show on navball"

<queqiao-> ⟨nibrasakhi⟩ is there any way to add bodies without making principia mad and without starting a new save? :(

<queqiao-> ⟨ezsnack⟩ how come even with a minimum dv transfer the time to get to the moon is less in principia? i guess because the moon is always acting on my craft? also does LTP know about this when setting the travel time?
<queqiao-> ⟨ezsnack⟩ * moon's gravity
<queqiao-> ⟨nazfib⟩ Yes, I believe it is because the Moon accelerates you towards itself from much further out.
<queqiao-> It does not make a difference for LTP. What matters is the total transfer time from launch until you arrive at the Moon; how you get there in that time does not affect the required launch direction.
<queqiao-> ⟨butcher6994⟩ LTP assumes the moon travels along its Keplerian orbit, this approximation is close enough in Principia as long as you don't take too long.
<queqiao-> ⟨egg⟩ What if a cat nudges the moon?
<queqiao-> ⟨butcher6994⟩ Is it a frictionless spherical cat?
<raptop> Unsure, but the cat is definitely in a vacuum
<queqiao-> ⟨butcher6994⟩ Hard vacuum cat is watching your rockets
