egg changed the topic of #principia to: Logs: https://esper.irclog.whitequark.org/principia | <scott_manley> anyone that doubts the wisdom of retrograde bop needs to get the hell out | https://xkcd.com/323/ | <egg> calculating the influence of lamont on Pluto is a bit silly…
<queqiao->
⟨ezsnack⟩ how come even with a minimum dv transfer the time to get to the moon is less in principia? i guess because the moon is always acting on my craft? also does LTP know about this when setting the travel time?
<queqiao->
⟨ezsnack⟩ * moon's gravity
<queqiao->
⟨nazfib⟩ Yes, I believe it is because the Moon accelerates you towards itself from much further out.
<queqiao->
It does not make a difference for LTP. What matters is the total transfer time from launch until you arrive at the Moon; how you get there in that time does not affect the required launch direction.
<queqiao->
⟨butcher6994⟩ LTP assumes the moon travels along its Keplerian orbit, this approximation is close enough in Principia as long as you don't take too long.
<queqiao->
⟨egg⟩ What if a cat nudges the moon?
<queqiao->
⟨butcher6994⟩ Is it a frictionless spherical cat?
<raptop>
Unsure, but the cat is definitely in a vacuum

⟨butcher6994⟩ Hard vacuum cat is watching your rockets
