It has an RCS refill module on the aft end & 12 orbital tugs capable of returning to surface. Handy when you want to de-orbit stuff. There’s a claw module in the works for stuff you can’t dock to https://i.imgur.com/L2UcmGJ.jpg

The heat shields on each target carry jettisoned to expose a second docking port

Tug can*

<transit>
So you can either dock two tugs together & de-orbit/manoeuvre another craft, or you can make a 3 tug chain by jettisoning a heat shield on one of them for moving the tugs to another craft
<FLHerne>
That's pretty neat
<transit>
We can survive re-entry even without the heat shield because of the high drag and relatively low mass, but it’s not guaranteed.
<FLHerne>
so you're launching it with the tugs installed?
<transit>
Yes.
<FLHerne>
explains why it's so wide then
<FLHerne>
given the tugs have a docking port on each end, I'd probably launch the core and then all the tugs as a stack
<transit>
Originally I launched the depot and then the tugs, but so many docking ports together made it way too wobbly under the fairing
<FLHerne>
ah
<transit>
This particular design is several years old. The tugs have gone under at least two revisions
<FLHerne>
can't remember, does autostrut work through docking ports?
<transit>
Previous tugs did not have as many parts and did not have the heat shield
<FLHerne>
that may not have existed 'several' years ago
<transit>
It can, but I have found that autostrut only works with a certain sequence, but it takes awhile of trial and error and a lot of exploding & the game freezing because of the explosions so I gave up on that and just send the whole thing inti orbit all at once
<FLHerne>
hm
<transit>
There is another oversized craft that I call the mongoose probe. I can load that up and take some pictures after I get back from couple of errands
<FLHerne>
it's 1am here
<FLHerne>
so I should probably be sleeping
<transit>
It is 20:25 here
<FLHerne>
if you do post pictures I'll look at them in the morning
<transit>
I better get going though before the place closes
<transit>
Okay I’ll tag you have a good night
<FLHerne>
goodnight

You buy a Commodore 64 so you can play the new version of Kilobyte Space Program. The launch window gets delayed after the KSC's janitor spills twenty vats of whale blubber over the launchpad.
<XXCoder>
that janitor must have played it overnight and got tired too

This is how you get a TPK in Kobold Space Program
