Metaphorically as well as literally.

they can't be all that dense if they float
<SporkWitch>
you forget how dense kerbin water is
<SporkWitch>
5 tonne capsule bouncing like it's a trampoline and never stopping
<FLHerne>
most parts float about as deeply as you'd expect in water
<FLHerne>
so if Kerbals and water are usually dense, so is everything else, and then I'm not sure that means anything :p
<SporkWitch>
float yes, but they BOUNCE
<FLHerne>
real large objects in water bob around quite a bit
<SporkWitch>
they don't get launched back into the air, though lol
<SporkWitch>
i'll take a clip sometimes, it's kind of nutty
<FLHerne>
my 5-ton home bounces around pretty well for a minute or so if some idiot in a RIB ignores the speed limit
<FLHerne>
even after the actual wake has passed
<FLHerne>
lots of energy, relatively little damping
<FLHerne>
they're designed with a bow shape to make sure they fully submerge and level out underwater so that doesn't happen
<SporkWitch>
FLHerne: now repeat that first bounce for more than 15 minutes without losing height
<FLHerne>
ok, yeah, there should be *some* damping
<FLHerne>
I've never seen that happen though
<FLHerne>
and I've dropped quite a few craft in the oceans :p
<Izaya>
Anyone know a mod that contains a 0.625m hub/node? The Tantares size 0.5 ones need a node cap for each side if you want to put a Jr port on them
<SporkWitch>
i'm pretty sure it's one of the mods that affects the water to give it slight waves, and because of KSP's wonky physics (excluding orbital mechanics) it just keeps launching it, whereas, as you say, it SHOULD just bob lightly

You fill out paperwork equal to the GLOW of your rocket. You have read so many contract descriptions that you forget basic sentence structure, needless to say, this is where you come in.

<Mat2ch>
Does "Gonna Make You Sweat" still count as 80s music? Apparently it was recorded 1989, but released in 1990...
<SporkWitch>
decade-based genres tend to be blurry because you have overlap at the beginning and end
<Mat2ch>
In my quest to build the ultimate 80s music collection I stumbled upon Steel Panther and no, I can't post anything from them here. :D
<SporkWitch>
lol
<packbart>
They're living The Spinal Tap dream
<Mat2ch>
But when was the last time you heard "Freeze Frame"? Tell me!
<packbart>
in some weird "funny videos" show on TV
<Mat2ch>
ouch.
<Althego>
in the age of the internet those shows are not necessary anymore
<Althego>
or rather they never were, but there are more ways
<Mat2ch>
I think I put "Don't Leave Me This Way" into the mix.
<Mat2ch>
even though it is late 70s.
<SporkWitch>
America's Funniest Home Videos was a cultural touchstone for decades. MANY families for whom that was part of the nightly ritual. For my own family, it was the MASH rerun, then the new episode of Star Trek TNG
<Althego>
way better choice
<SporkWitch>
we watched AFHV too lol
<Mat2ch>
TNG was a really good choice
<Mat2ch>
I only watched the re-runs back then :/
<SporkWitch>
so was MASH, though after getting the DVD set, I can't watch it any other way now. The DVDs came with two audio tracks: the one from tv, and one that's the same but with the laugh track removed. SOOOO much darker and more powerful without the laugh track
<Mat2ch>
I forgot about those fake laugh tracks /o\
<Mat2ch>
Married with children had them... and then in the last episode they showed the studio and there were real people laughing...
<SporkWitch>
the sign of a bad comedy is the need for them. the sign of a great comedy is when it's good in spite of them.
<LunchBot>

<Althego>

<SporkWitch>
i suspect it's part of the outcome. Killing people for acknowleding, rather than burying, is a very commie thing to do, historically, and commies LOVE calling themselves "the People's" whatever.
<Izaya>
funkenstein: tantares parts are wonderful for building round rockets :3
<SporkWitch>
*acknowledging rather than burying failures
<funkenstein>

though I'm looking forward to unlocking the really big Kerbal Atomics/CryoTanks tanks, so I can have a giant sphere with a NTR on one end and a docking port on the other

You design and build a complete space program using nothing but cans of Spam. You increase the orbital debris count tenfold.
<Althego>
as expected
<packbart>
Spam! In! Spaaaace!
<Izaya>
You do, however, solve world hunger for non-vegetarians
<funkenstein>
Spamce
<SporkWitch>
the round tanks in MKS/KSPI are definitely nice, and have the added benefit of logistics support, so you can transfer things between nearby vehicles (this is the preferred method of initially loading a craft constructed using the orbital shipyards, since it spawns it nearby, not docked, so you'd need to use a tug to dock and transfer normally, if you didn't have a tank that supports MKS logistics)
<funkenstein>
Also, I love meat but cannot stand spam.
<SporkWitch>
many would debate whether spam is meat lol
<Pinkbeast>
Makes sense, I like to read but only if the letters aren't in a random smooshed-up order
<funkenstein>
I think it could be classified as "organic meat-type product"
<SporkWitch>
Izaya: you can't fix hunger for vegetarians and vegans, they're ALWAYS hungry, because by definition they don't eat right
<funkenstein>
Also it's not as if plants aren't ALSO living and in fact alive to some degree when you eat then.
<Althego>
"that's my secret, i'm always hungry" :)
<Izaya>
I, for one, welcome the emergence of acceptable plant-based imitations of meat
<funkenstein>
Furthermore milk doesn't require hurting the cow, so why vegans why
<SporkWitch>
just the opposite, NOT milking the dairy cow actively harms the cow lol
<funkenstein>
I welcome cricket-based protein powder, but my partner finds it foul.
<Althego>
you still need to impregnate it, and then slaughter the offspring
<funkenstein>
precisely
<SporkWitch>
because it tastes nasty lol
<funkenstein>
Cow tiddy hurts if ya don't milk it.
<Althego>
isnt that the same for humans?
<funkenstein>
yep
<SporkWitch>
and then after you slaughter the offspring, you BUTCHER the offspring, and eat it and make leather goods from it.
<funkenstein>
Milk your cowgirls, they need it
<funkenstein>
lol
<funkenstein>
sldo you mske the offspring walk across a hard line of shadow, which they hate
<Mat2ch>
funkenstein: nice! Any more suggestions? ;)
<funkenstein>
mat2ch To which??
<Mat2ch>
funkenstein: Songs from that time ;)
<SporkWitch>
most places the methods are actually quite humane. They're careful to keep the still-living ones isolated, and to make the deaths fast and painless. The problems crop up when you're talking about Halal slaughter, which REQUIRES incredibly inhumane methods of killing. Literally they hang it upside down and slit the throat, letting it bleed out while still alive and as aware as a cow can be.
