⟨Falcon⟩ Question i guess, might be a fairly simple answer, but for planning manuevers in LEO more than just a few days out it seems that it really lags/locks up the game or what have you. in deep space it isnt as much an issue. How best may i go about like... planning a mission from LEO that requires construction over the course of a a few weeks, that accounts for the orbital precession over time so tha
<queqiao->
⟨(ᴇxᴘᴇʀɪᴍᴇɴᴛᴀʟshells)⟩ launch into a RAAN such that, after x number of weeks, your orbit has precessed to exactly the right one
<queqiao->
⟨lpg⟩ do long term departure planning with MJ, not principia's flight planner
<queqiao->
⟨Falcon⟩ I ran it through KSPTOT since i was doing flyby's with this mission, and when i did my insertion to orbit it had the RAAN/LAN right where i needed it, of course 25 days later its out of position now
<queqiao->
⟨Falcon⟩ so like, do a simulation into the orbit so to speak, and then run the mechjeb planner to see?
<queqiao->
⟨Falcon⟩ and put it X many days out?

⟨narukaze⟩ Hey, so does anyone have any advice for getting into a parking orbit in Principia? In stock I use a maneuver node to make it easier, but trying to wrestle with Principia's flight planning to get a stable orbit going just doesn't sound like it'd work out.

⟨Butcher⟩ Around Earth or Kerbin?
<queqiao->
⟨leudaimon⟩ what exactly do you mean by parking orbit?
egg|anbo|egg has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<queqiao->
⟨narukaze⟩ Kerbin. I guess a better term would be LKO?
<queqiao->
⟨Zeusbeer⟩ Generally getting into orbit
<queqiao->
⟨Zeusbeer⟩ The trick is to eyeball the apoapsis and periapsis while doing your circulation burn in the orbit view
<queqiao->
⟨Zeusbeer⟩ Or you can really quickly make a principia maneuver
<queqiao->
⟨Zeusbeer⟩ Eyeballing is more manly however
<queqiao->
⟨narukaze⟩ I do eyeball it, I just usually screw it up
<queqiao->
⟨narukaze⟩ I do eyeball it, I just usually screw it up when I do (edited)
<queqiao->
⟨narukaze⟩ Usually takes two or three tries'
<queqiao->
⟨scimas⟩ Basically every single low kerbin orbit is stable, you don't need anything special for that. Only high altitude orbits or highly eccentric orbits around Kerbin are unstable.
<queqiao->
⟨Damien⟩ I use Kerbal Engineer and have HUDs showing Ap, Pe and time to both. During ascent use pitch to avoid going above your target Ap. If Ap rises too much pitch down, if it needs to rise pitch up. Try and time it so Pe equals Ap just as time to Ap hits zero
<queqiao->
⟨Damien⟩ Once Ap hits your target during ascent you should be more or less horizontal
<queqiao->
⟨Damien⟩ Then it's just fine running
<queqiao->
⟨Damien⟩ Then it's just fine tuning (edited)
<queqiao->
⟨narukaze⟩ I use MechJeb, and the Orbit Info app does pretty much the same thing, so I guess I can work with that
<queqiao->
⟨Damien⟩ Yeah either works
<queqiao->
⟨Damien⟩ I fly manual ascents with no coast period in stock because that's how it works in realism overhaul and its the most efficient way
<queqiao->

<queqiao->
⟨Damien⟩ It works that way regardless if you're using principia or not
<queqiao->
⟨Zeusbeer⟩ Oh I thought you ment completely stock
<queqiao->
⟨Zeusbeer⟩ well I suppose stock has an 'orbit info' tab now
<queqiao->
⟨Zeusbeer⟩ you can also use that one
<queqiao->
⟨Zeusbeer⟩ you can also use that one, if you prefer something less bloated (edited)
<queqiao->
⟨Zeusbeer⟩ but egg will get really angry saying that the apoapsis and periapsis given by external tools are wrong
<queqiao->
⟨Zeusbeer⟩ but I find that for orbiting they will be within 20km, so you can always double check
<queqiao->

⟨Zeusbeer⟩ I am not 100% sure but I think the orbit analyser of principia has an eccentricity value, you can read that on final orbit insertion to see how perfectly round the orbit is.
