egg changed the topic of #principia to: Logs: https://esper.irclog.whitequark.org/principia | <scott_manley> anyone that doubts the wisdom of retrograde bop needs to get the hell out | https://xkcd.com/323/ | <egg> calculating the influence of lamont on Pluto is a bit silly…
<queqiao-_>
⟨egg⟩ looks like most of it isn’t getting downsampled, there’s a little bit of downsampled trajectory at the beginning and then hundreds of thousands of points at steps of 10 s.

⟨coffeequaffer⟩ final static UI element fix update: i spent ~30 mins trying to get my usual janky 1957-rocket-tech moon impactor to a precise TLI using the flight planner. no slowdowns / memory growth / texture weirdness. before the fix this was a 100% repro case for me, usually within 10 minutes of seat time

⟨kingzlo⟩ every time i install principia and load a save my game crashes
<queqiao-_>
⟨Zeusbeer⟩ Ideally you want to load a save with either no vessels or debris already in orbit or make an entirely new save
<queqiao-_>
⟨Zeusbeer⟩ If it's a non principia save
<queqiao-_>
⟨kingzlo⟩ ooh
<queqiao-_>
⟨Zeusbeer⟩ Does creating a new save also induce a crash?
<queqiao-_>
⟨Zeusbeer⟩ If that's the case you might have installed incorrectly
<queqiao-_>
⟨egg⟩ Have you considered reading the FAQ, which will tell you where you can find logs which will tell you what the crash is about?
<queqiao-_>
⟨egg⟩ @Zeusbeer the no-vessels thing isn’t about crashes, it’s about vessels ending up in unexpected places (especially ones on interplanetary trajectories)
<queqiao-_>
⟨egg⟩ @kingzlo Have you considered reading the FAQ, which will tell you where you can find logs which will tell you what the crash is about? (edited)
<queqiao-_>
⟨Zeusbeer⟩ But I would assume that having 300 existing vessels would be very hard on the computer to load
<queqiao-_>
⟨egg⟩ I would avoid assumptions about the way Principia works. Having lots of vessels in orbit will quickly degrade performance down the line, of course, but isn’t an intrinsic problem, and in any case should not lead to a crash
<queqiao-_>
⟨Butcher⟩ I'm still proud that I managed to crash principia with a ship. 🙂
<queqiao-_>
⟨kingzlo⟩ no, it jsut crashes when i load a save
<queqiao-_>
⟨kingzlo⟩ oh ok i will, thanks for the help
<queqiao-_>
⟨Butcher⟩ Oui, le
<queqiao-_>
⟨Butcher⟩ Oui, l'oeuf (edited)

⟨lpg⟩ As I proceed to get my save back to a manageable size by visiting vessel and clearing history via Hack Gravity, a thought occurs to me: why is it that Hack Gravity doesn't work on the selected vessel in the Tracking Station? Principia's own UI follows the selected vessel, even the flight planner more or less works
<queqiao-_>
⟨egg⟩ because it is a Hack, it’s really about escaping Principia from a physics standpoint
<queqiao-_>
⟨egg⟩ it’s handled with as part of the unmanageability reasons, which don’t come into play unless you have an unpacked vessel

⟨egg⟩ @lpg can you give us a journal wherein you load one of those big saves and warp for a while?
