However, hm, complaining here has given me a much better idea, so thanks
<Pinkbeast>
(ie, I'm in sandbox mode, don't try and design a rocket to take _one_ hugely unwieldy Laythe plane to space, off-centre mass and drag. Just send two, one on either side...)

in other words, rocket sucked and it crashed.

also a fun fact: computers are much like air conditioners: they work great until you open Windows
<Althego>
hehe
<SporkWitch>
"go home dad, you're drunk" FINE! there's one last beer in the fridge, i'm gonna drink that and i'll go to bed...
<SporkWitch>
(the windows/microsoft jokes are almost as old as i am, heh)
<Althego>
to be honest they got xp and 7 right
<Althego>
which is not much out of decades of history
<SporkWitch>
both were point-releases that they charged full-retail prices for; literally not a major revision, just bug fixes and some cosmetics
<Althego>
yes, 2000 was quite ok, wasnt widespread, and vista was ok towards the end too
<SporkWitch>
It's noteworthy that it was also right after some of the EU sanctions expired. The BEST (by which i mean worst) was 95a/95b/98a/98b. Literally all just bugfixes and by 98b they STILL didn't have everything working that was promised for 95a ON THE BOX. They charged full retail for each, no free upgrades.
<SporkWitch>
hotplugging USB didn't work remotely reliably until 98a, or possibly even 98b (was a while ago); it was supposed to work from 95a on, and instead you literally had to do a full reboot just like PS/2
<Izaya>
amusingly, the air conditioning in my house works best with the windows open
<Izaya>
(it's an incredibly badly designed house, typical 1950s job)
<XXCoder>
wonder if yours has one of those vent "ac"
<XXCoder>
which you open ceiling vent and it sucks up hot air and gets cool air from basement
<XXCoder>
forgot exact name and buld but yeah
<Izaya>
basement??
<Izaya>
but no it's just one of those cheap freestanding ones
<SporkWitch>
you need to put the exhaust in the window, and seal the window around it... they're garbage, but i've lived in apartments where normal window units wouldn't fit and it was the only option (they're also terribly power inefficient)
<XXCoder>
por buy 2 hose ac
<XXCoder>
portable
<SporkWitch>
if you have a window that will fit it, a trick that actually works really well in a pinch is to take two box fans, point one each way, and use curtains or blankets to seal them as best you can into the window. sets up really good circulation going (one blowing in, one out) and keeps the room cool
NicknameHere has quit [Quit: Connection closed for inactivity]
<Izaya>
yeah the exhaust is in the window frame and all
<Izaya>
this house is just cursed
<Althego>
house with exhaust? convert it to a rocket
<Mat2ch>
XXCoder: if you find a dual hose monoblock ac at all.
<XXCoder>
i ordered mine from amazon 3 years ago

well worth it

Are there any mods that add nuclear engines with retractable nozzles? A lot of the design diagrams I see have them but none of the ones in my game have them :<
<XXCoder>
below it is table of comparason of all 2 hoses
<XXCoder>
btw not only is it 2 hose, its a heat pump
<XXCoder>
it heats room in winter, though you need to reconfigure hoses to only input
<XXCoder>
erm *output
<Mat2ch>
XXCoder: and not available over here :(
<XXCoder>
sucks
<Mat2ch>
I basically have no window either do use for it. Only, not sure how you would call it, glass doors
<Mat2ch>
so windows that go from ceiling to bottom
<XXCoder>
you dont own your homne?
<XXCoder>
note this isnt something like insult or anything. simply because there is things you might be able to do, if you own your home vs rental that you cannot
<Izaya>
you can use the window mounts in glass doors if you have a long thin bit of wood
<Mat2ch>
XXCoder: only a small percentage of ppl in Germany own a home :|
<Mat2ch>
and lately it has become unaffordable
<XXCoder>
its increasily so here
<XXCoder>
we was so luckly to buy a house when price was starting to really rise
<XXCoder>
house price have risen 100k usd since buy
<Mat2ch>
how long ago was that?
<XXCoder>
3 years and half id say
<XXCoder>
if we went for a house, say, 3 years earlier it'd be abother 100k off
<Mat2ch>
yeah, it seems to be similar here.
<Mat2ch>
Where I'm living 85 m² appartments go for 800k EUR now and houses for over a million...
<XXCoder>
thats far more painful than here
<Mat2ch>
20 years ago it was more like 200k and 350k...
<XXCoder>
house here is valued at 450k
<XXCoder>
20 years ago, it probabloy wouldnt cross 100k
<Mat2ch>
it's not everywhere the same. I could go 30 to 40 km further and the prices would be more like that
<Mat2ch>

will probably depend on the "give all nations' sovereignty to the WHO" treaty and how much they exploit monkey pox. If people rightly tell them where to shove it, should go fine. If they try to lock down the world again? Probasbly 2030, if we still have computers then after the world collapses and most of the population starves to death.
