* umbralraptop breaks out
<Izaya> hmm, maybe I should publish my patches and such, and my cursed custom parts
<umbralraptop> Yay, cursed parts
<Izaya> do you want a really big toroid tank? of course you do!
<umbralraptop> Can I run laps in the tank?
<Izaya> hmmm
<Izaya> you know, I think it's just the right size where it's too big to use as a float and too small to swim *inside*
<umbralraptop> Ah, too bad
<Izaya> I have plans for more variations though
<Izaya> A 1.875m inner/3.75m outer dia tank appeals to me
<Izaya> I guess a 2.5m inner/5m outer would complete the set
<Izaya> unless I wanted to go for everything up to a 5m inner/10m outer tank I guess

<umbralraptop> This sounds like it can do some very silly staging
<Izaya> it's wonderful for landing base modules using those tiny 0.625m booster engines
<Izaya> or the 1.25m one with built-in tanks
<Izaya> you can jettison the tank once you get to the hover phase of the landing and complete the landing on only onboard fuel, no external tanks, because they've just hit the ground fast enough to disappear
<Izaya> very clean and tidy

<SporkWitch> Izaya: good to know. I find astrogator gets more accurate maneuvers than mechjeb, but had been using mechjeb then manually tweaking them because astrogator would regularly crash with the GUI lol
<Izaya> I haven't tried making it list the transfers, only used it to generate ones I know are possible, so that may still crash things
<Izaya> but if I'm not insane, one could cook up a kOS GUI to replace the astrogator plugin if they wanted
<SporkWitch> dunno; the GUI stuff is usually the most likely to cause issues
<Izaya> ah, but kOS GUI stuff is dumb (in a good way)
<Izaya> you can make a GUI then make buttons execute kOS code
<SporkWitch> yeah, but astrogator does its own thing, whereas that looks like it's creating a native KSP window
<Izaya> yeah, but I'm saying you could replace the astrogator GUI with a kOS script that uses astrogator to generate the transfer nodes
<SporkWitch> oh, absolutely
<Izaya> alternatively, someone could reimplement astrogator in kerboscript, but not me, I'm allergic to maths

<FLHerne> Izaya: they'd be quite neat for racing 'flying' craft through as well
<FLHerne> I'm thinking Monte Carlo Challenge, but without the aid of aerodynamic drag for slowing and cornering
<FLHerne> it would be hilarious
<Althego> what is monte carlo challenge?
<FLHerne> KSP plane canyon-racing competition https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDc1qiTsYHs
<FLHerne> there was an even better sequel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8Myz-rRnd8
<FLHerne> my favourite entry was the glitch device that teleports itself directly to the finish line
<Althego> how do you even teleport in ksp?
<FLHerne> it's a lot of clipped decouplers
<FLHerne> which somehow give it exactly enough acceleration to reach the defined finish point in one frame
<FLHerne> then it explodes
<Pinkbeast> But it died doing what it loved
